Find out whether there is multiplayer in The Precinct. Can you play the game with your buddies and arrest perps together?

While a multiplayer mode does sound great in concept, unfortunately, The Precinct is solely single-player in nature. So, there isn’t an option to dive into the game with friends online or through co-op. You can’t chase down perpetrators together or act as partners who’ll uphold the law in Averno City. However, does the lack of multiplayer and co-op now also mean that these features won’t ever make their way into the game? In this guide, we’ll explore the possibilities of multiplayer in The Precinct in the future.
Will There Be Co-Op or Multiplayer in The Precinct in the Future?

In a FAQ section, the developers have clarified that they are solely focused on polishing and implementing the single-player aspects of the game at launch. Since its reveal, they’ve always pitched the game as a single-player, open-world, arcade-style title. And that’s exactly what you get if you’re playing The Precinct at launch. And since the development team consists of around 7 people, developing and integrating a co-op or multiplayer mode for the game would be a monumental undertaking.
It would require them to write a different layer of code altogether and balance the existing game mechanics to support multiple players at the same time.

However, the developers haven’t ruled out a multiplayer mode eventually making its way to the game. Even if that happens, don’t expect such an update to release any time soon. A co-op or multiplayer feature would make sense, however. That’s because you are partnered with an AI-controlled cop named Frank. In the multiplayer mode, this partner system could come into play, replacing Frank with a real player instead.
For now, though, you can only enjoy the game in its single-player mode. It will see you take on the role of a rookie police officer. You must issue citations, chase drunk drivers, and arrest people who you discover flouting the law. If you do everything by the book, the game will reward you with XP, Upgrade Tokens, and much more. However, if you neglect all aspects of your duties, you will be penalized.
The Precinct is available now on PC, Xbox Series S|X, and PS5 for $29.99.
