Titan Quest 2’s Cages in the Dark quest sends you to a cave, and inside this cave is a locked door that unlocks with braziers.

The world of Titan Quest 2 is a dangerous one. Death lurks around every corner, and this is evident in the various enemies you face. You’re ambushed by spiders, crabs, skeletons, Nemesis herself, and so much more. But for most of the first act, it is the Ichthians that remain a thorn at your side.
The Ichthians have been terrorizing the Pyrgos village and have taken people prisoner. When you set out to save the villagers captive in Fiend’s Hollow, you find a locked door with a brazier before it.
Interact with the door, and it will tell you that the Braziers are key to solving the mystery. However, no matter how many permutations and combinations are made with the brazier, it remains unchanged. The door stays shut, and you’re left wondering how to solve the puzzle. Thankfully, we’re here to help.

To solve the brazier puzzle in Titan Quest 2, first interact with the locked door, and it will give you a clue to solving the puzzle. “You imagine yourself lighting a lone brazier. Then a pair of braziers. Then a trio. Then the thought fades.”
Reading the clue, you may think that you have to light up the brazier altar before you in sets of solo, duo, and trio. But that’s not the case. You have to light separate braziers spread across the cave to solve the puzzle. The trio brazier you see before you isn’t the only one in the cave. There are two more nearby. Those are the ones you need to light up.
From the locked door, head to the east end of the cave, and you’ll find a solo brazier there. Light this up and head south, cutting across the circular path. Once you circle to the southwest, you’ll find your duo brazier. Light this up, and then light up the trio brazier before the door to open the gate.
