In this guide, we’ll help you better understand how item rarity in Titan Quest 2 works, including what the gear colors indicate.

Titan Quest 2 is currently in Early Access, and you can expect a ton of content updates as time progresses. However, the game already has the basic building blocks of an online RPG in place. For instance, you can farm bosses already in the game for better gear. Similarly, you can take on and complete a wide variety of side quests and mini quests in addition to the main campaign.
However, perhaps the biggest identifier of the online hack-and-slash RPG is the color-coded weapons, accessories, and armor pieces. Like most other games in the genre, you’ll have to figure out item rarity in Titan Quest 2 by understanding which gear color means what. Follow this guide if you need help in this regard.
Item Rarity in Titan Quest 2: What Does Each Color Mean

Refer to the following table to understand how the color of the gear indicates its overall rarity, value, and stats.
Color and Item Rarity | What It Means |
Gray – Standard | The most common loot drops you’ll find. They have decent enough stats but don’t have any sub-stats to boast. You’ll find these more often during the early hours of the game. |
Blue – Magic | Slightly higher rarity than the Gray ones. They also have one or two sub-stats, which might help deal status ailments or protect you from them. |
Gold – Rare | These are rare items that have three or even four sub-stats. So, your chances of afflicting ailments or protecting yourself from receiving said ailments are higher with such items. |
Purple – Legendary | The best items in the game have purple-colored rarities. You won’t find these often given their rarity, but once you do, each piece will offer five or six sub-stats. |
Green – Ornamental | This color doesn’t actually indicate rarity. It just shows that the item you picked up is special loot that you’ll often get by fighting other species, such as the Icthians. |

How To Pick the Correct Items To Use
Item rarity in Titan Quest 2 shouldn’t be your only deciding factor when selecting a piece of gear. Instead, you have to understand whether a high-rarity item syncs well with the abilities and skills you have from your two Masteries. For instance, if you’re playing as a Storm character, you don’t need to use an item that increases your fire attack damage even if it’s Purple or Legendary.
Instead, prioritize gear pieces that boost your Lightning damage in that scenario. So, carefully go through the sub-stats of an item, and don’t just base your decision on item rarity.
