Toby Fox has done it again! Deltarune, the successor to his acclaimed indie title, Undertale, is a roaring success despite only being partially completed. With the first four chapters of Deltarune released on June 4, 2025, Fox shared some informative and cheeky spoiler warnings in a newsletter addressed to players.

Deltarune Chapters 1 and 2 were released back in 2021 and are now available for free with the game’s demo. Since die-hard fans were just waiting to get their hands on Chapters 3 and 4, Toby Fox thought it best to help the community avoid spoilers for the much-awaited game.

“If you’re worried about seeing spoilers, try to refrain from using social media or video websites until you have sufficiently completed the game,” wrote Toby Fox in the newsletter. “Due to current media algorithms, if you’re a big fan of the game, it’s likely spoilers will be recommended to you no matter where you go.”

His advice became instantly relevant as the game touched nearly 134,000 players within the first day of its release. Fans started circulating a cascade of posts and videos about the new chapters online. However, despite players sharing clips of the game and posting about it, blatant story spoilers are hard to find.

Warning About the Official Soundtrack and New Zealanders

In addition to social media, Toby Fox cautioned fans about another unexpected source of spoilers: the game’s soundtrack and New Zealanders. He warned that some soundtrack titles might contain spoilers. Since the game was released three hours earlier in New Zealand, Fox joked about the country’s players spoiling the game with a vengeance.

“Just be ready,” warned Toby Fox in the newsletter. “Even before the game comes out in your region, the New Zealanders who get the game three hours earlier are probably gonna come directly to your house and start taping thumbnails of Deltarune Chapters 3+4 All Bosses Compilation to the outside of your windows. (They might already be doing that…)”

At the same time, the indie developer encouraged fans to take their time completing the chapters. He urged players not to rush through the game just because of spoiler concerns, advising that they take a break between each chapter for the best experience.
