NetEase Games’ latest project offers 33 characters to choose from. Here are the top heroes in our opinion to play Marvel Rivals.

Marvel Rivals offers a total of 33 characters. It is difficult to pick the “top” five in this scenario. Especially because each character plays differently, suitable for different playstyles. The wide range of variety lets you find the perfect match for you.
However, there are certain characters that we wish for you to try if you can spare some of your time. After all, it’s all about experimenting. The characters are divided into three classes: Vanguard, Duelist, and Strategist. They can further differ in playstyle based on their active and passive skills.
For example, a hero that stays on the ground will play very differently compared to the one that has the ability to fly. Moreover, each one of them will have a different skill set that you can utilize.
With that said, we want you to check out these five superheroes, in no particular order, whenever you start playing Marvel Rivals.
(NOTE: This post contains the writer’s subjective views on the roster)
1. Spider-Man (Duelist)

Your friendly neighborhood superhero is now in Marvel Rivals as a Duelist. This makes Spider-Man perfect for one-on-one combat. His traversal in the game is also interesting, allowing players to swing around the map, wall climb, and wall run.
You can expect 250 HP and 6 m/s movement speed from the wall-crawler. As for the Abilities, they are mostly traversal-related. He has a basic melee attack and a web cluster for ranged damage, too. He can be a little difficult to master, though.
2. The Punisher (Duelist)

Frank Castle aka The Punisher is the only regular human with no superpowers on this list. However, that doesn’t stop him from going all the way and ‘punishing’ the enemy team. You have two basic attacks. One allows him to fire using his Assault Rifle, while the other uses his Shotgun.
He has some interesting abilities, like the Culling Turret which allows him to plant a turret and start dealing devastating damage to the enemies in first-person. Frank Castle is not that advanced in traversal, unfortunately. But he can use a grappling hook to get to a better vantage point.
You can expect Castle to move at a speed of 6 m/s and charge into battle with a total of 275 HP.
3. Doctor Strange

Once a surgeon, now the Sorcerer Supreme, Doctor Stephen Strange will let you take control of all magic forces in the Marvel Universe, whether forbidden or otherwise. He can use Daggers of Denak as a basic attack and use the rest of his abilities to show off his magic prowess. There is a strong chance that you will have fun opening portals using Pentagram of Farallah.
Since he is a Vanguard, he has a total HP of 650 and a moving speed of 6 m/s. You can use Doctor Strange at the frontlines to deal massive damage to enemies and shield your allies as well.
4. Groot

Our favorite member of Guardians of the Galaxy, Groot is one of the tankiest characters in Marvel Rivals. Everybody’s favorite tree will start every life with 700 HP and a 6 m/s movement speed. Use this Vanguard character in the frontlines and he will be able to use Vine Strike as his basic attack.
A Team-Up ability that you will enjoy with this character is Friendly Shoulder. For this, your friend would have to have Rocket Raccoon equipped. You would also like to experiment with the skills that come with this Guardian of the Galaxy.
5. Loki (Strategist)

Like a Duelist, Loki’s HP is also low, sitting at 250, despite being a Strategist. This is because this class is supposed to excel in team support rather than joining offense. While it does have some offensive abilities like the Mystic Missile basic attack or the Backstab ability.
He mainly specializes in tricking enemies as the God of Mischief. Most of the abilities are centered around tricks. Although it all sounds fun and games, the main drawback is that you need to master this class first.
