Popular Twitch streamer Viiki took to X, calling out Twitch. During a front-page stream in January 2025, a user gifted multiple subscriptions to Viiki’s channel. After which, the user initiated a chargeback from their bank. This not only made her lose the expected income but also put her in the negatives.

The streamer wrote in her tweet that the Amazon-owned platform does not have any protection against this type of chargebacks. The streamer wrote that the user harassed her community and her talent agency for the refunds.

“A reminder that Twitch does not infact have ANY protection. Whilst I was on the front page on Twitch a month ago, I had someone come in and hang out for 6+ hours, boast about their money, donate subs/ bits that I was very grateful for. He has then proceeded to harrass my community / talent agency because he ‘forgot he has other bills to pay so will need the money back.'”

Viiki was charged $242.32 on her Twitch dashboard, reflecting multiple refunded gifted subs. She has over 21.1K followers on Twitch and more than 11.4K subscribers on YouTube. As a partnered Twitch streamer, she received support from the community to help offset the debt. Many users contributed by subscribing with Twitch Prime.

After her tweet went viral on X, numerous viewers donated and subscribed to her channel. Later, she shared another screenshot showing that the debt had been cleared.

“I really didn’t expect anything from this tweet- I just wanted to raise awareness they can take everything away at moments notice. thank you all for coming together and helping me get out of debt”

“Shame on Twitch”: Fans React to Viiki Calling Out Twitch

Viiki’s post on X garnered significant attention from the community. Not only helping her clear her debt, the community also called out Twitch for their chargeback policy. Viiki also posted an update regarding the report she made. The streamer wrote that Twitch did not take any action, and has ignored the emails and tweets.

While fans showed support for the streamer, some also recalled similar incidents. Some comments on her post stated:

“Wow ridiculous. Twitch should have said no refunds. There was no fraud so there should have been no refund. I am sorry you had to deal with that. I am glad the community pulled around you to help. Shame on Twitch” wrote @ReAnimateHer_.

“We’ve seen another friend deal with this recently. The fact this is becoming more common lately too and the streamers have no protection is really making it hard to keep that motivation going… Twitch really needs to do something.” commented @TreyKatXo.

“It’s insane But it’s the reason I don’t depend on Twitch for money even tho I’d like to Not only they take a huge cut but chargebacks are not protected at all” stated @Yukime_VT.
