However, most packs are extremely expensive for the value they offer, and purchasing them without sufficient thought will likely lead to a waste of funds. This guide narrows down the best value-for-money options, with descriptions for what you can realistically expect to receive from each one.
Disclaimer: You do not need to spend any money on Umamusume: Pretty Derby to create a strong account or enjoy the game. The developers are generous with Carats, handing them out in giveaways and encouraging players to earn them through achievements and missions. Even spending hundreds of dollars on Paid Carats doesn’t guarantee receiving a particular character or card unless they are on a banner.

Best Paid Carat Packs in Umamusume: Pretty Derby
“Paid Carats” are more valuable than “Free Carats.” This is because you can spend 50 Paid Carats on any banner once a day for a pull as opposed to 150 Free Carats. Additionally, spending 1,500 Paid Carats on the one-time 3-star Guaranteed Make Debut Ticket or the one-time SSR Guaranteed Ticket provides the greatest value. Paid Carats should never be spent in place of Free Carats.
1) Rookie Starter Pack A – USD 3.99

All the limited Carat packs offer the most value, and none more so than the Rookie Starter Pack A. It can only be bought once, but it provides the best dollar-to-carat conversion ratio. Additionally, it offers plenty of Monies and Support Points, which are desperately needed to max out Support Cards.
2) Daily Carat Pack – USD 6.99
- 500 Paid Carats
- 50 Free Carats with each daily login for 30 days
The Daily Carat Pack can only be bought once every 30 days. You can consider it a monthly subscription to the game. If you log into the game once a day, you will receive 1,500 Carats (not paid) when 30 days are complete. After 30 days are up, you can purchase the pack again for the daily 50-carat bonus and 500 paid Carats.
We recommend either using the 500 Paid Carats on the once-a-day 50 Paid Carat pulls on banners, or saving them to purchase a 3-star Guaranteed Make Debut Ticket. To do this, you will have to save the Paid Carats from two consecutive Daily Carat Packs and the Rookie Starter Pack A.
3) Rookie Starter Pack B – USD 20.99

If you are willing to splurge on Umamusume: Pretty Derby, Rookie Starter Pack B is the place to start. Although expensive, the pack guarantees that you will pull at least two 3-Star characters.
Begin by using the 3-Star Guaranteed Make Debut Ticket. Then, spend the 1,500 Paid Carats on the one-time 3-Star Guaranteed Make Debut Ticket or SSR Guaranteed Make Debut Ticket in Scout.
Unfortunately, you cannot choose which 3-star Uma or Support Card you will get with either. This means you may get a duplicate if you already have most of the characters or cards offered with the ticket. Additionally, the tickets do not include current banner characters, and the offered characters are listed in the pack’s description.
4) Rookie Starter Pack C – USD 20.99
- 1,500 Paid Carats
- 1 SSR Guaranteed Make Debut Ticket
Rookie Starter Pack C is similar to the B pack, but offers the SSR Guaranteed Make Debut Ticket for a Support Card instead of the 3-Star Guaranteed Make Debut Ticket for a character. Purchasing a 3-star character ticket is better than getting an SSR ticket, because there are a lot of bad Support Cards you can pull, but new characters are always valuable. All the Rookie Starter Packs can only be bought once.
Other Paid Carat Packs
All other packs besides these four are egregiously expensive for the meager value they provide. However, the packs listed above are one-time offers, except for the Daily Carat Pack. Spending beyond these packs is only prudent if you are nearing the 200 Exchange Point threshold for a banner you want and need a few more pulls before it expires.
