One of the toughest and most popular community challenges in Umamusume: Pretty Derby is to win the Arima Kinen with Haru Urara. The Arima Kinen is a Long Turf race, while Haru Urara has “G” aptitude for both Long and Turf tracks. Needless to say, it is a race you are meant to lose in her career, coming in last place and watching Haru Urara break down in tears.

However, it is possible to challenge fate itself with decent game knowledge, an optimized build, and a lot of help from “friends.” This guide outlines the build required to beat Arima Kinen with Haru Urara and help her secure the win she deserves.

Legacy

You need 3-Star Spark for Long and 3-Star Spark for Dirt to raise the aptitude from G to D. While these Sparks are a must-have, other 3-Star stat Sparks are also greatly beneficial. If the Dirt and Long aptitude level does not reach A with the initial inspiration, you have to rely on luck and hope that the two inspiration events during the Career pass down the Dirt and Long Sparks.

Borrow a Legacy with the needed Sparks by finding the appropriate trainer IDs from community forums like Discord, where players post Legacy information and advertise their star uma. It will likely be difficult to find a single uma with both 3-Star+ Dirt and 3-Star+ Long. Supplement any deficiency with a second Legacy from your own veteran uma.

Even if you don’t manage to reach “A” rank in both categories before Arima Kinen, the stats and skills of this build will give you a fair chance of success.

Recovery Skills

Swinging Maestro is almost a must-have for this run. 600 Stamina is not enough to complete the Long race with enough gas left in the tank for the final spurt.  If you don’t have an SSR Super Creek Support Card, preferably one that is fully uncapped and maxed out, borrow it from a friend. Less dependable but equally potent alternatives to Swinging Maestro include:

  • Iron Will at Potential Level 3
  • Indomitable at Potential Level 5
  • Breath of Fresh Air (SSR Vodka)

Refrain from buying multiple regular skills that restore stamina “slightly,” as they are nowhere near as cost-effective as these rare skills.

Speed Skills

Final Leg acceleration skills are going to be your best bet to steal first place at the Arima Kinen. Any speed skills that activate before the final corner will be completely wasted, and velocity increases are inferior to acceleration increases. Learn at least one of these skills to improve your chances:

  • Homestretch Haste
  • Outer Swell
  • Slick Surge
  • On Your Left! (SSR Winning Ticket)
  • In Body and Mind (SSR Special Week)

‘Homestretch Haste,’ ‘Outer Swell,’ and ‘Slick Surge’ are available through multiple support cards and events, while ‘On Your Left!’ and ‘In Body and Mind’ are exclusive to the mentioned SSR cards.

Passive Skills

The green passive skills provide permanent buffs to their respective attributes that can help shore up stats. Specc into them if you have already learnt a key recovery and speed skill. Good options include:

  • Firm Conditions: Power +40 upgradable to +60
  • Non-Standard Distance: Stamina +40 upgradable to +60
  • Lone Wolf: Speed +40

Support Cards

  • 3 Speed
  • 2 Power
  • 1 Stamina
