When aiming to race in the NHK Mile Cup, open the “Races” page from the training screen. Navigate to Early May of Classic Year with the right arrow button, find NHK Mile Cup, and choose “Schedule.” The game will now remind you of the race when its date comes around.

To have the best chance of beating the NHK Mile Cup race, choose the Front Runner style, as it is the least likely to be blocked. Here are the stats you should aim for before beginning the race:

Running StyleSpeedStaminaPowerGutsWit
Front Runner400+ 250+300+150+200+
Pace Chaser 400+250+350+150+ 200+
Late Surger 400+ 200+400+150+200+

The stat requirements to beat the NHK Mile Cup aren’t that high, as it is a Classic Year race. However, players are generally focused on improving their Friendship Bonds with Support Cards when the Second Year begins. The unfocused stat training required for raising bond levels can leave the uma unprepared for the NHK Mile Cup.

Skills

If the trainee isn’t meeting the minimum stat requirements to beat the race, consider investing in skills that compensate for their deficiencies. Stamina-recovery skills like ‘Corner Recovery’ and ‘Hydrate’ can shore up a low Stamina stat and allow the trainee to reach her top speed in the last spurt.

Make up for a low Power stat with acceleration skills like ‘Straightaway Acceleration’ or the ‘Firm Conditions’ or ‘Wet Conditions’ passive skills. You can check the NHK Mile Cup’s surface and weather conditions before starting the race. Velocity-increasing skills like ‘Homestretch Haste,’ ‘Lone Wolf,’ and ‘Beeline Burst’ can make up for a low Speed stat.
