The Career Mode in Umamusume Pretty Derby challenges each uma with her own set of goals that take her through a variety of races. Apart from these key races, you can also spend turns competing in optional races. Winning in these events increases fans, provides upgrade resources, and rewards you with Skill Points (SP) and a small stat bonus.

As the number of fans increases, more prestigious events become available as optional races. Winning these races not only provides valuable SP but also helps raise the Potential level of future trainees. 

Umamusume Pretty Derby: All Race Types, Explained

After achieving first place in the Make Debut race or a Maiden race, you can begin to enter standard races. Among them, some races are restricted by the number of fans, while others are only open to umas in their classic or senior years.

  • Pre-Open (Pre-OP): Open to junior year runners who have secured victory in either their Make Debut or Maiden race.
    • Fans: +1000
    • Rewards: Monies, Support Points
  • Open (OP): The same as Pre-OP, but the difficulty scales marginally.
    • Fans: +1,600
    • Rewards: Monies, Support Points
  • Grade Three (G3): The first level of graded races.
    • Fans: +1800
    • Rewards: Racing Shoes, Carats, Monies, Support Points, Goddess Statue 
  • Grade Two (G2): The second level of graded races, but runners still appear in track gear.
    • Fans: +5400
    • Rewards: Racing Shoes, Carat,s Monies, Support Points, Goddess Statue
  • Grade One (G1): Prestigious races with the highest rewards. Participants appear in their signature race wear and are highly skilled.
    • Fans: +7000
    • Rewards: Winner’s Sash, Racing Shoes, Carats Monies, Support Points, Goddess Statue

Graded races reward you with a trophy upon finishing in first place. Winning the race provides the highest rewards, including a Winner’s Sash, racing shoes, bonus SP, and a stat boost. Trophies awarded in graded races are collected and stored permanently in your account’s Trophy Room. Winner’s Sashes and trophies are also tied to various Main and Special missions.

Placing between second and fifth is also considered an achievement and yields a few rewards. Finishing below fifth will leave your uma dejected, though she’ll still earn some SP.

Scheduling Races

When looking to participate in specific races during a career, you can schedule them for the game to remind you on race day. Head to the races menu and select the right arrow at the top of the race list to inspect upcoming events. Continue clicking the arrow until you locate your desired race. Then, select the race and click the Schedule button at the bottom.
