There are several ways to build your horse girls in Umamusume: Pretty Derby, depending on each character’s unique stats and skill potential. The protagonist from season one of the eponymous anime, Special Week’s versatility translates into the game with balanced stats and skills that allow her to fit nearly any mold during training. This guide will focus on building up Special Week as a front-runner for short and medium-distance races.

To develop Special Week’s racing style as a front-runner, training will prioritize stats accordingly. However, during your first career year, focus most of the training on building friendships with support cards. Once the friendships reach tier 4, around 80%, their bars turn orange and they start friendship training with Special Week. This gives a large boost to stats trained with them and unlocks events.

Primary Stats

Once you begin a run with Special Week, focus on training Speed. To remain ahead of the pack, your uma will have to outclass other front-runners in speed. Aim to reach 700+ speed for medium-distance races to stay competitive.

Secondary Stats

Power is the next stat to train, followed by Stamina. Aim for 500+ power, as it will allow Special Week to overtake opponents and blitz to the front of the pack. Getting stuck behind other racers will completely throttle your top speed.

For medium races, you require 500+ stamina. Your uma will burn a lot of stamina as a front-runner, getting to the number one spot. To compensate, be sure to give her some stamina-restoring skills.

Support Card Loadout

The type of support cards you bring to the run is critical in training Special Week and maximizing her stats. Each support card bolsters a particular training type. After you have reached the aforementioned friendship level with them, they provide bonuses for their respective training. Choose the following distributions for your Career Mode to get a balanced loadout.

Balanced:

  • 3 Speed
  • 1 Power
  • 1 Stamina
  • 1 Wisdom

Long Distance:

  • 2 Speed
  • 2 Stamina
  • 1 Power
  • 1 Wisdom

Skills

The best skills for Special Week are those that:

  • Boost straight and corner speeds
  • Restore stamina
  • Increase her leadership aptitude

Legacy Picks

The most reliable way to play Special Week is as a front-runner. Therefore, her parent and legacy picks should align with her front-running strategy. Here are some good examples:

  • Mejiro Ryan
  • Rice Shower
  • TM Opera O
