Team Trials is the primary PvP mode in Umamusume Pretty Derby that pits two teams of veteran umas against each other across all five race categories. After reaching Class 3, you can field three veterans in each category. The performance of each one factors into the complex scoring system, with the placement of all three veterans being the most important factor.

However, not all team members contribute equally to scoring, and one of them can be granted the position of “Ace.” This guide outlines the importance of an Ace, how to assign the position, and the key considerations for doing so.

Aces are the veteran umas occupying the topmost spots in each of the race categories in the Team Trials group. Aces receive a bonus to their score at the end of each race. They also appear at the center of group discussion animations before the start of a race. To change the Ace for any team, head to:

  • Race > Team Trials > Edit Team

Select the Ace you want to change and choose a veteran uma you want as the new Ace. If the chosen uma is already a part of the same team, the two will switch places. The order of the remaining two team members in any race category does not matter.

Ace Score Bonus

Every Ace receives a 10% bonus to their overall score. This is important because the bonus is applied every time the Ace earns score points, whether for placing first, good positioning, or skill activation.

The Best Way To Assign Aces

As the name implies, the Ace uma should be the best one on each team. In simple terms, she should be the most likely to win the race within the team. This means that a Front Runner who consistently places first with lower stats makes for a better Ace than a Late Surger with higher stats who frequently fails to finish near the top.

The best way to decide your Ace is to observe at least 10 Team Trials races. Make a note of how each of your umas places within their specific event. Then, select the team members who win the most in each race category and assign them to the Ace positions.
