Creating almost everything you need by yourself is one of the core mechanics in V Rising. In this survival RPG, you will be crafting most of your gear to progress through the various stages of the game. And since there are a lot of different materials and equipment items in V Rising, the ability to salvage them can be crucial for survival.

Salvaging makes resource management a lot easier, and it is felt especially so when it comes to rare materials. So, in this guide, we will discuss what to do to Salvage your items in V Rising.

How To Salvage Your Items in V Rising

To Salvage gears or items in V Rising, players will need the Devourer. It is essentially a large box that takes your items and breaks them into their different ingredients. Furthermore, before you throw your items in this hungry box, highlight them in your inventory to check if they are salvageable or not. If an item is eligible for the Devourer, then the salvageable text will appear at the bottom alongside some materials as an indication.

Additionally, since you need the Devourer in order to salvage, you will need to know how to unlock it. In order to obtain the Devourer, players will need to defeat Lidia the Chaos Archer. She is a level 30 V Blood Carrier. This early-stage boss roams around, which makes it difficult to find her. So, we recommend that you track her blood from the Blood Altar to pinpoint her location. More often than not, she moves around the east side of the Farbane Woods.

How To Build the Devourer

Once Lidia is defeated, you will get the Devourer alongside the Longbow recipe, a tier-one Chaos Spell Point, and the Leatherworking Station. After that, you will need to collect 12x Planks and 6x Copper Ingots to build the hungry box.

Then place the structure anywhere in your castle. However, we do recommend placing it in an enclosed room, as that reduces the processing time by 25%. From that point forward, whenever you need to salvage something, simply drop it inside the Devourer, and it will break it down to its base components.

After getting the Devourer, players will be able to salvage most things. However, we suggest that duplicate books would be one of the best items to salvage. Duplicate books in V Rising are quite useless, and salvaging them will grant you the associated materials of the recipe’s original area.

Still, despite Salvaging being a great feature in V Rising, some things have better uses. If you are thinking about salvaging old gear like weapons and armor, we recommend that you reconsider because if you instead give your old equipment to your servants, they will have increased chances of succeeding on missions.
