Learn how to switch between the four characters in Vindictus: Defying Fate after completing key early-game story quests.
Vindictus: Defying Fate is an action RPG developed by Nexon based on their 2010 MMORPG, Vindictus. Defying Fate allows you to choose from four characters at the start of the game: Lann, Fiona, Karok, and Delia. Each character has their own unique playstyle, weapons, and skills to explore.
When you complete character creation, the game informs you that the character can be switched later on. However, there is no way to change characters in the game’s hub village of Colhen, leaving players unsure about when the feature unlocks.
How To Change Characters in Vindictus Defying Fate
You can change characters in Vindictus: Defying Fate at Campsites after defeating the Shadowfang boss and completing the ‘Rising Hostilities’ quest. This means that it will take you around one hour of playing the main story until you can change your character and gain access to followers. Once you have followers unlocked, rest at a Campsite and open the Followers tab. Select the “Main” option with your character’s icon. Then, choose the character you want to play as.

How To Unlock Campsites in Vindictus Defying Fate
To unlock campsites, complete the tutorial and begin the first mission. After completing a basic combat tutorial, you will wake up in the game’s hub village of Colhen. Following the cutscene with Tieve, follow the quest marker to the Kalbram Mercenary building. Inside, Vice-Captain Marrec will be in a heated confrontation with Gwynn. Continue following the quest marker and complete the interaction with all the main characters.
Soon, you will be given your first mission, which serves as a test to join the mercenaries. Open the map and fast-travel to the Northern Ruins. There, Cerea will introduce you to Campsites, unlocking them.

How To Unlock Followers in Vindictus Defying Fate
You can recruit one of the playable characters as an AI-controlled follower after completing the ‘A Whirlwind of Red’ quest. The quest is part of the first chapter and ends with the Shadowfang boss fight. After all the cutscenes that follow, you will talk to Marrec and gain access to followers and character changing in the ‘Gates of Paradise’ quest. You can choose among the four characters to assign the Main and Follower.
