Currently, Vivo is gearing up to launch an exciting new smartphone, and it will be a foldable phone. Many teasers have been coming out recently related to the Vivo X Fold 5, so let’s check them out!
The upcoming X Fold 5 is going to be released very soon, and it packs many awesome features. The product manager at Vivo, Han Boxiao, has shared exciting details. The new foldable is going to pack some serious upgrades and give tough competition to the Samsung Z Fold phones, which have been dominating the space for a long time.
Despite Samsung’s deep footing in foldable phones, companies like Vivo have been innovating and experimenting with different designs. This time, with the X Fold 5, the brand is taking a few big steps to create one of the best foldable phones. We will discuss the release date as well as the many new features.
Vivo X Fold 5: Features and Specifications
Speaking of the display, the X Fold 5 is expected to feature up to 4500 nits of peak brightness. This display will also support high-frequency PWM dimming, along with the latest TÜV Rheinland eye protection 3.0 to increase viewability and make the device easier on the eyes.
The Vivo X Fold 5’s battery is expected to feature the second generation of semi-solid battery technology, capable of withstanding temperatures as low as -30°C. The battery size is going to be 6000mAh, all while having an extremely thin and refined design.
Speaking of water resistance, no foldable phone has reached the levels of what Vivo is teasing here for the X Fold 5. Reportedly, Vivo’s latest X Fold 5 will feature IPX9+, IPX8, and IP5X certifications for dust and water.
Talking about the Vivo X Fold 5’s cameras, a new periscope lens is expected. This allows for superior zoom capabilities. The other cameras will include a 50MP primary sensor based on the IMX921, and an ultrawide camera as well. The new device will feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor.
Vivo X Fold 5: Release Date Announced
Vivo’s X Fold 5 has been rumored to launch in 2025 for quite a long time. The brand recently confirmed the release date recently via a post on Weibo. Here, they also revealed the device in several different color options.
According to the brand, the new X Fold 5 will launch on June 25, 2025. With less than two weeks left before the launch, expect to see more details about the handheld. It will be interesting to compare this phone to the upcoming Samsung Z Fold 7 when it inevitably launches this year.
We’re not currently sure about the global availability of the device. The launch event has been announced for China, but we can expect to see the phone launch in other regions later this year.
