The long-awaited sequel to the 2011 game, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, expands the scale from the original with vast swarms of Tyranids bearing down on the player. Saber Interactive delivered outstanding visual fidelity with awe-inspiring backgrounds, glistening Space Marine armor, and Swarm Technology.

However, Space Marine 2’s visual feats place heavy demands on PC performance. Therefore, the game has also served as a testing ground for modern hardware, especially GPUs, since it is fairly well-optimized but frequently generates heavy workloads with its large-scale battles. With the impending launch of the RTX 5060 and its early benchmarks, Space Marine 2 offers the ideal proving ground for Nvidia’s new GPU.

Best Settings for Space Marine 2 With RTX 5060

The RTX 5060 performs admirably well while running Space Marine 2 on ultra settings and can maintain more than 60 fps at both 1080p and 1440p resolutions. This does involve the use of DLSS for resolution upscaling at different qualities. However, Space Marine 2 implements DLSS well for performance, and it is difficult to distinguish it from the native resolution. For 1080p, set the render resolution to “Quality,” and for 1440p, set the render resolution to “Balanced.”

Key Considerations for Performance

  • Although Space Marine 2 only uses around 7 GB of VRAM, the game places significant demand on the CPU, and performance can get bottlenecked if your processor isn’t keeping up with the workload.
    • The recommended processors for the game are AMD Ryzen 7 5800X or Intel Core i7-12700. If your CPU is at a similar level or better, the game should run well.
  • Using the settings given above, the game should run at ~80 fps for 1080p and ~60 fps for 1440p. If you wish to increase the smoothness of gameplay at 1440p, decrease the graphics preset from ultra to high and increase resolution scaling from balanced to quality. This will give you a smooth 80–90 fps even during large battles.
