FaZe Clan member and Twitch streamer Jason “Jasontheween” is currently facing backlash, particularly from K-Pop fans, after he released a new vlog titled I Met NewJeans Again! He vlogged his visit to the recently concluded Countdown Japan music festival, during which he encountered some members of NewJeans, the popular South Korean girl group. At one point in the video, Jason filmed himself walking outside their dressing room, hoping to meet them. This segment, however, was later removed.

NewJeans fans weren’t the most impressed by this action. Some found this as “stalking,” insinuating that he may be encroaching the group’s privacy. One fan, for instance, wrote:

“This is stalker behavior because no actual fan would go to a concert, get backstage through another party, and expect to meet them unannounced like that. He’s not their friend. He’s parasocial and wants validation from famous people he doesn’t know for content.”

Another user wrote:

“He deleted the footage on his vlog of him GOING BACKSTAGE to their DRESSING ROOM and knocking on their door…So he knew that was weird? Even if the girls weren’t there, that’s mad weird.”

What Did Jasontheween Say About the Allegations?

Jasontheween is currently facing backlash over his latest vlog, which included a brief clip (now removed) of him waiting outside NewJeans’ dressing room at an event. However, he has responded to the controversy, stating that the clip was taken out of context.

He explained that he had received backstage access, which permitted him to be in the area, and refuted the criticism, claiming that many were attempting to portray him in a negative light:

“Bro, I got backstage access. NewJeans wasn’t the only artist that I saw backstage. I didn’t f**king tap on her shoulder, I didn’t go through f**king security, I simply said, ‘Yo, hey.’ That’s all I said. I just said hi. otherf**kers saying that I was going through security like I snuck up…”

Jason also pointed out that NewJeans is familiar with him, as they have collaborated in the past. He mentioned that during the concert, one of the members even responded with a “hi” when he greeted them. He said:

“I said they were shocked and confused. They weren’t shocked and confused in a, ‘Oh my god,m you f**king creep, what are you doing here?’ They were shocked at confused because they didn’t expect me to be there. They obviously recognize me and it’s not like they didn’t say hi back, they said hi back.”

Jasontheween collaborated with NewJeans for the first time last year. The streamer even shared a photo with the group on his X page:

Jason also came up with a meme-worthy dance move to NewJeans’ song “What’s Your ETA?” The FaZe Boys later recreated this iconic move in collaboration with MrBeast:
