Tech YouTuber Marques Brownlee, widely known as MKBHD, has recently been in the spotlight for receiving multiple traffic tickets. Police bodycam footage of several incidents involving Marques has surfaced online. In one instance, he was pulled over by New Jersey police for having heavily tinted windows and was unable to provide his driver’s license. In another instance, police stopped him for speeding as he drove 59 mph in a 25 mph zone. The YouTuber received another citation for unclear license plates in New Jersey.

Earlier in November, the 31-year-old was in hot water for a clip of himself driving at 95 mph in a 35 mph zone, which he later removed. Brownlee received significant backlash for this incident, acknowledging the behavior as “inexcusable and dangerous.” Marques was shooting a video for his video gear, where he was driving a Lamborghini car in a school zone.

Brownlee has been getting flak for these incidents, with netizens commenting on how he is influencing his audience of millions. Jokes about him not having his license when Marques promotes a wallet have surfaced as well.

“how does he forget his drivers license if he got a fancy RIDGE WALLET,” commented a user.

The debate has also spilled over to discussions about fairness in law enforcement and whether Marques received leniency compared to others in similar situations. An officer, while handing MKBHD tickets, told the YouTuber that they were giving him a “break” so he did not receive any more points on his license. Marques already had two points on his driver’s license from 2022.

Marques Brownlee’s Previous Speeding Controversy

In a now-deleted segment of a video, Marques was driving a Lamborghini car at 96 mph in a 35 mph zone, which was near a school. The YouTuber faced significant backlash for this incident, with netizens questioning his actions. Felix ‘xQc,’ while reacting to the video, said that it was “criminal speeding” driving 95 in a 35 mph zone.

Marques later posted an apology on X, stating that his behavior was inexcusable and that he had removed the segment where he was speeding using YouTube’s editing tool.

Brownlee received a lot of backlash from the community and fellow YouTubers. Mutahar from SomeOrdinaryGamers released a video titled “I’m Very Disappointed in Marques Brownlee…” to discuss the situation. Another YouTuber and lawyer, LegalEagle, stated that “Don’t film your crimes and upload them on YouTube”. The lawyer added that such footage could be used against you in a court of law.
