The Mandrake is a legendary pet that was added along with many new pets during the Admin Abuse War event in Grow a Garden on August 23, 2025. Players can only obtain it from the Skyroot Chest, which can be crafted, purchased, or obtained through Robux. It may look like a Mandrake Crop, but don’t let it fool you; it is a pet and can rot your crops, increasing their value.

Mandrake Pet Abilities in Grow a Garden
Mandrake Pet has a passive ability that gives a 3.5% chance to apply the Rot mutation to a random fruit in your garden whenever you harvest a Mandrake crop.
The Rot mutation multiplies the fruit’s value by about 5 times. While useful, this multiplier is weaker than other mutations like the new Gnomed Mutation, so the Mandrake is less profitable compared to higher-value mutation pets.
To activate the ability, you need to:
- Place the Mandrake Pet in your garden.
- Plant and harvest Mandrake crops regularly, use multiple Mandrake pets and plenty of Mandrake crops to boost mutation chances.
How To Get the Mandrake Pet in Grow a Garden
You can obtain the Mandrake Pet through the Skyroot Chest, which can be:
- Crafted: At the Beanstalk Event Crafting Station (top of the Beanstalk). Crafting one Skyroot Chest takes 30 minutes and requires:
- 2 Beanstalk Crops
- 1 Sprout Seed Pack
- 1 Sprout Egg
- 7,500,000 Sheckles
- Purchased: From the Friendship Shop after leveling up friendship with Goliath (give him cooked food), the giant NPC at the top of the Beanstalk. The Skyroot Chest costs 1.5 million Sheckles.
- Exotic Skyroot Chest: Available in the in-game shop for 199 Robux.

Mandrake Pet Drop Chances
- Normal Skyroot Chest: ~14.5% chance to drop the Mandrake Pet.
- Exotic Skyroot Chest: ~14.5% chance, but the Mandrake Pet is guaranteed on the 23rd chest.
Is the Mandrake Pet Worth It?
While the Mandrake Pet’s ability is not as profitable as other pets like Apple Gazelle, it’s still a decent option for mutation farming, especially if you grow lots of Mandrake crops. It’s more of a collection pet than a money-making powerhouse, but it still has its niche use in Rot farming.
