Twitch streamer Zack “Asmongold” Hoyt shared his thoughts on the Holocaust during his livestream on January 22, 2025. He said that the Holocaust ‘probably” happened, which divided internet users, and many thought he was denying the atrocities that happened. Many accused him of Holocaust denial because a clip from his stream went viral without context.

According to the American Jewish Committee, “knowledge about the Holocaust” is waning due to denial. Holocaust denial negates the scope of the 6 million Jewish victims’ deaths and distorts facts. However, Asmongold clarified that he is not a “Holocaust denier” and condemned Nazi Germany on stream.

Political commentator and Twitch streamer Hasan “HasanAbi” Piker also backed him up and said that Hoyt is not a Holocaust denier. While Piker disagreed with how the streamer presented his statement to “retain his gamer cred”.

Asmongold’s Comments on the Holocaust

The Twitch streamer was reacting to Elon Musk’s appearance at Donald Trump’s presidential inauguration ceremony on stream. He was discussing the Holocaust with his audience and said:

“I am not one of these Holocaust deniers. The Holocaust probably happened. Probably 99% certainty it happened. And the number of people that were killed is not a big deal to me. If someone told me the number of people who got killed is lower, I would still say Nazi Germany was terrible. It’s just a silly thing to say. It’s a silly thing to think about. I don’t know why people get so hyper-fixated on it.”

Some of his viewers told him to stop talking about it. He refused and said that he lost a lot of sponsors and was not worried about getting banned. Asmongold added:

“I do hate mainstream media. I do. They are the enemy of the people. They accurately misrepresent things constantly. Look at the way they covered Luigi…look at, for example, the Trump the “fine people” thing. Look at how they cover how multiple shootings happened. They try to play the race card. Constant. Constant Constant. It’s tiresome.”

The streamer condemned social media and alternative media as well. Despite saying he believes the Holocaust happened, people posted clips from his commentary and called him a Holocaust denier.

HasanAbi Partly Defends Asmon’s Comments

After Asmongold’s clips went viral, HasanAbi saw them on social media and said:

“Dude, why is he saying there’s a 1% chance the Holocaust did not happen? Like, are you that desperate to be edgy? Come on Asmon. What’s wrong with your bro. Do I think Asmon thinks the Holocaust didn’t happen? No. He knows the Holocaust happened. 100%. He knows the Holocaust happened.”

However, the political commentator seemed unhappy about how Asmongold presented his statement. He said that Asmon tried to “retain his gamer cred” by saying there’s a 1% chance it didn’t happen and was unhappy with the streamer’s phrasing.
