Let’s take a look at all the platforms on which you will be able to play Black Myth Wukong upon its release.
The hotly anticipated Black Myth Wukong is all set to arrive on August 20, 2024. With less than a week remaining for its release, many fans are curious about the platforms where the title will be available after its global launch. Unfortunately, Xbox owners might have to wait a while before they can get their hands on this RPG title based on the Chinese Legend of the Monkey King.
This article will explore the platforms on which Black Myth Wukong will be available following its release. Although all platforms are not going to have it at launch, they will eventually be made available once the developers Game Science have made further optimizations.
Black Myth Wukong: All platforms at launch
Black Myth Wukong will be available on PC and the PlayStation 5 platforms at launch. It will not be available on Xbox at launch. PC Gamers can acquire and play Black Myth Wukong via the following platforms:

Black Myth Wukong will eventually be released on Xbox Series X|S, and the game is currently undergoing optimizations to meet quality standards on these platforms. Since it is not going to be on Xbox just yet, Black Myth Wukong will also not be available on Xbox Game Pass at the moment. It is currently unknown if the game will eventually be made available on the Game Pass, but the idea should not be dismissed entirely.
Black Myth Wukong will not be available on the following platforms:
- Xbox One
- PlayStation 4
- Nintendo Switch
If you use one of these older generation consoles for the PlayStation or Xbox, you will have to upgrade to the latest generation to play Black Myth Wukong.

Black Myth Wukong is largely inspired by the Chinese Legend of the Monkey King. It is based on the Western novel “Journey to the West” where the protagonist travels to the western lands in search of ancient manuscripts. The iconic staff of Son Wukong, Ruyi Jingu Bang, will be your main weapon as you hack and slash your way while also using magical spells.
There have been countless renditions based on this story and its plot, including the acclaimed Dragon Ball series as well. It is yet to be seen how lore-accurate the proceedings of Black Myth Wukong will be. However, fans can expect a decent share of action with difficult bosses and visually appealing graphics. Black Myth Wukong will supposedly have a linear progression that follows a Sekiro-esque play style. It is also going to share elements reminiscent to the souls-like games.
