Edgeshot in My Hero Academia is one of Japan’s most elite Pro Heroes, known by his real name Shinya Kamihara. Initially ranked as the No. 5 Hero before rising to No. 4 after All Might’s retirement. Edgeshot shows his ninja-like abilities with a calm, calculated approach to heroism. His most notable achievement came during the Final War arc, where he sacrificed himself to save student hero Katsuki Bakugo by literally becoming his heart.
With distinctive gray hair shaped into three sharp points and wearing a traditional shinobi outfit, he cuts an imposing figure despite his relatively shorter stature than other top heroes. He was a U.A. High School student and became one of Jpana’s most respected heroes in the series.

His signature moves include the Thousand Sheet Pierce, which allows him to pierce opponents and cut off their blood flow to render them unconscious. The Fishhook Snag, where he transforms his body into a pointed string to capture enemies. The versatility of his Quirk extends to reconnaissance and infiltration, as he can flatten his entire body to slip through the tiniest spaces. However, the power comes with a significant drawback – when his body is stretched too thin for extended periods, it gradually affects his lifespan.
The ninja hero has also developed advanced techniques like the Spiral Spear Hand for precise strikes, and Substitution Jutsu for evasive maneuvers. Most notably, his ultimate technique, Zenith, allows him to enter another person’s body and act as a medical suture – a technique that would later prove crucial in saving Bakugo’s life.

During Edgeshot’s school years, he formed a close friendship with future hero Best Jeanist. Together they created the “Textile Arts Association,” which served as a front for hero training due to their similar Quirks. Throughout My Hero Academia, Edgeshot has participated in several crucial battles demonstrating his exceptional abilities. His most significant engagement came during the Kamino Incident, where he played a vital role in the operation to rescue Katsuki Bakugo from the League of Villains. During this battle, Edgeshot showcased his combat prowess by swiftly incapacitating both Kurogiri and a Nomu using his Thousand Sheet Pierce technique. There, he demonstrated extraordinary speed that even villains couldn’t comprehend.
Another notable achievement came during the Paranormal Liberation War, where Edgeshot led the Villa Raid Team against the villains. In this battle, he single-handedly defeated multiple Paranormal Liberation Front members and, more impressively, managed to take down Re-Destro, the former leader of the Meta Liberation Army.
Despite suffering moderate injuries, this victory proved his capability to handle high-level threats independently. His participation in the Egypt Task Force during the World Heroes’ Mission further gave him the status of a global-level hero. During this participation, he worked alongside international heroes to prevent a worldwide catastrophe.
The Ultimate Sacrifice of Edgeshot in My Hero Academia
The most illustrative moment for Edgeshot in My Hero Academia came during the Final War arc, where he made the supreme heroic sacrifice. When Katsuki Bakugo suffered deadly damage in the battle against Tomura Shigaraki, resulting in his heart being destroyed, Edgeshot made an exceptional judgment. Utilizing his Quirk’s ultimate technique, Zenith, he recast his entire body into threads and literally became Bakugo’s heart.
This act pushed his Quirk to its absolute limits, as he used his body to stitch together Bakugo’s damaged organs from the inside out. The procedure was extremely risky, with Edgeshot knowing that stretching his body to such an extreme degree would severely impact his own lifespan. Despite the dangers, he proceeded with the operation, demonstrating the true spirit of heroism.
His efforts successfully brought the young hero back to life, though it left Edgeshot permanently altered, reduced to a thread-like form with tiny hands. Even after the war, despite his diminished physical form, Edgeshot continued to contribute to society’s reconstruction, proving that a hero’s work never truly ends.
