HasanAbi is a 33 year old Turkish Youtuber and Twitch streamer, who claims to be a propagandist and is known for his far-left commentary.
Hasan Doğan Piker, popularly known as HasanAbi, is a Turkish-American Twitch streamer and YouTuber. He is a leftist political streamer who breaks down political news and elections for the young audience. Additionally, he is one of the most watched Twitch streamers and reacts to YouTube videos relating to U.S. and world politics. Hasan is also known for appearing on his uncle Cenk Uygur’s web-show The Young Turks.
The online influencer has garnered over 1.45 million subscribers on YouTube and 2.79 million followers on Twitch. HasanAbi co-hosted a political left-wing podcast named Leftovers, along with Ethan Klein. In October 2023, the podcast entered a hiatus when there was a conflict between the two, related to the Israel-Hamas war. Post this disagreement, Ethan confirmed that the podcast Leftovers is over.
HasanAbi and Controversies
Over the years, HasanAbi has become one of the most established streamers within the streaming community. Initially, he started posting vlogs where he used to give his political opinions and criticize conservationists. Hasan was a columnist for the progressive news website Huffpost, owned by Buzzfeed, between 2016 and 2018.
HasanAbi has been the center of a lot of controversies over the years. He has a history of making controversial remarks like “America deserved 9/11.” Hasan defended e-sports journalist Rod Breslau when he se*ually assaulted Brittany Venti, an American livestreamer and former Twitch streamer.
In 2021, HasanAbi bought a house worth $2.7 million, which caused a backlash. This was seen as a hypocritical move by both the left and right sides of the political spectrum. This was due to Piker’s anti-capitalist stance. Hasan pushed back on this criticism and said that “socialism is not a poverty cult.” He was compared to Neekolul, who was another leftist content creator who bought a house using his internet fame.
Hasan became infamous for uploading reaction videos on YouTube. Most of the content creator called him out for using their videos without giving them credit. MooLer uploaded a video on YouTube titled “Hasan Piker: Man of Steal,” which was compilation of Hasan streaming videos on Twitch and leaving the stream while the videos played in the background.
Hasan and Adin Ross
Hasan has a long-running feud with famous Twitch streamer Adin Ross. They often got into a conflict regarding content that was appropriate for streaming. In April, Adin Ross was accused by Internet Anarchist for falsely accusing the channel of copyright violations. The tweet was later celebrated by Ross during his stream as success on his part. HasanAbi took the opportunity to speak his mind out about Adin, the “face” of Twitch.
He said, “I will literally personally pay the legal fees of other f*cking Instagram models and people who now hate Adin Ross, who have appeared on his stream, to sue him for every f*cking dime he has if he keeps this d*mb sh*t up.”
HasanAbi hoped that this step would open up new avenues to blame Ross for copyright violations and take legal action against him. The two exchanged numerous remarks through tweets on the platform X. However, Ross used alternative accounts to state his opinion about Hasan and his political views and beliefs.
Apparently, Ross also celebrated HasanAbi getting banned on Kick, which was determined from a post on X where he was chilling with his friend Bruce. Following the tweet, Hasan replied, saying that he did not have any motivation to work on the same platform as the Kick’s star boy.
