Joe Malinowski or Lieutenant Dan became a celebrity overnight after his video of him preparing his boat for Hurricane Milton went viral.
Lieutenant Dan, also known as Joe Malinowski, became a viral TikTok sensation overnight in October 2024. A video of Dan preparing his 22-foot sailboat to survive Hurricane Milton in Tampa Bay took the internet by storm. Dan survived the storm, and everyone was even more curious to know more about him.
In the video posted by a TikTok user named Terrence Tampa, Lieutenant Dan says, “Right now, I’m waiting for the storm surge to come in to raise the boat up. The boat’s gonna go up, and I’ll go up with it, and when the water goes out, I’ll come back down again.”
A lot of people were curious to know why Lieutenant Dan decided to stay in the boat instead of evacuating it. To which he simply said that he had faith in God and that God told him to “come out here and get a boat.”
Lieutenant Dan said, “I put my faith in God. I don’t put my faith in man. God told me to come out here and get a boat. I came out here and got a boat. Everything he’s been telling me the last few days, I’m doing the right thing. He got my back. I’m in good shape. I ain’t sweating it.”
People later set up a GoFundMe for Lieutenant Dan and were able to raise $46,255 of a $40,000 goal. The GoFundMe was raised in order to help Dan buy a new boat. Post this, popular Kick streamer Adin Ross promised to buy him a boat and set him up with the streaming platform.
Lieutenant Dan’s Association With Adin Ross
Adin Ross, a well-known Kick streamer, offered to buy Lieutenant Dan a boat and also a full-time Kick Deal so that he can share his journeys through streams. Adin surprised his audience when he collaborated with Dan during one of his livestreams in October 2024.
Adin Ross said during the stream, “We were able to come up… I’m going to be able to pay for a boat for you. We’re going to get you a nice boat in the range of $50,000 to $100,000, and we’re going to get you a full-time Kick deal, which is a livestreaming deal where you can stream your entire voyages and all your adventures.”
However, on the same day, there were rumors that Adin backed off from the deal due to Lieutenant Dan’s past. But he later responded to the controversy, saying that he was going to buy the boat despite Dan’s past. On October 14, 2024, Adin announced that he will no longer be giving the Kick deal to Dan and will be giving it to his friend named Terrence instead.
He said, “Speaking to Terrence every day. We just talked today. I’m going to just announce it again for everyone that wants to know about the Lieutenant Dan situation. So guys, I am no longer giving Lieutenant Dan a Kick deal, but I’m giving the deal to Terrence. Terrence is going to go around Tampa, IRL streaming, and he’s going to help out homeless people and help out people that are in need.”
Later, he said that he is “not giving up on Lieutenant Dan.”
He said, “We still want to help Lieutenant Dan, known as Joe, by giving him a boat. but we also want to make sure that he’s staying sober and does it the right way. So, I’m giving Terrence the deal. Terrence will have the deal. Terrence will be doing IRL streams around Tampa, giving out money, and blessing people. I will be featuring in a couple of his streams.”
Post this, on November 29, 2024, Lieutenant Dan came out with a diss track against Adin Ross. This has garnered a lot of attention on social media and sparked discussions. A short clip on X starts with, “F*ck Adin Ross!” and it made it clear that the track was made for Adin.
