Popular personality Nanashi Mumei is a Japanese VTuber who recently announced her graduation from the group Hololive.
Associated with Hololive, Nanashi Mumei is a female virtual YouTuber who speaks English. Alongside Tsukumo Sana, Ceres Fauna, Ouro Kronii, and Hakos Baelz, she made her debut in 2021 as a member of hololive English -Council-, the second generation of hololive English members.
Mumei initially came across as a happy, kind, quiet, and somewhat naive girl, especially in comparison to her peers. At first, she was extremely shy and frequently showed signs of nervousness during streams. But as her confidence in streaming has grown, a new personality has surfaced.
These days, Mumei’s streams are distinguished by the contrast between a tone that is more spontaneous and vivacious and one that is more relaxed, comfortable, and low-energy.
Nanashi Mumei’s Graduation From Hololive
Following her graduation announcement, Nanashi Mumei startled the internet community. For context, Hololive declared on March 28, 2025, that Mumei would graduate from the agency on April 28, 2025 (Japan time).
For those who don’t know, the VTuber community uses the term “graduation” to refer to the departure of a content creator from a group or organization. Additionally, a VTuber’s career as a streamer under the same name ends with their graduation. Hololive made the following announcement in an X post:
“We regret to announce that Nanashi Mumei of hololive English will be graduating on April 28th, 2025 (JST). Since her debut as a member of the group hololive English -Council- three and a half years ago, Mumei has touched the lives of many fans, contributing to the growth of hololive production worldwide. This news may be difficult for fans and everyone involved, but we respect and support Mumei in her decision as she embarks on this new chapter.”

In an eight-minute, 42-second YouTube livestream titled Important Announcement – Nanashi Mumei, Mumei made her exit from Hololive today. The content creator explained the following factors in her decision:
“There isn’t really any better way to reduce anxieties going into this. So, I’m sorry for any worry I may have caused you today. I will be graduating from Hololive on April 28, the reasons being internal misalignments with the company and chronic health issues affecting my ability to use my voice over the last two years. I made great efforts to find resolutions in all areas, but ultimately decided this made the most sense for myself.”
Nanashi Mumei discussed her goals in depth prior to her April graduation. As she expressed regret to the community for having to rearrange plans due to her persistent cough and “external obligations,” the VTuber stated:
“I will do as much as I can in the remaining month that I have. I hope it’s okay if I focus on participating in as many collaborations as possible. I’m still having to plan around my chronic coughing and external obligations. So, I’m sorry for that, as well. Well, I also want to leave you all with some final covers and a pre-recorded 3D stream, which I’m preparing with third parties. So, stuff to look forward to.”
