Dota 2 caster SyndereN called out Pirate Software for allegedly cheating in Animal Well in front of his viewers.

Twitch streamer Jason “Thor” Hall, also known as Pirate Software, is engaged in a feud with Dota 2 caster Troels Lyngholt “SyndereN” Nielsen. SyndereN was casting a match at this year’s Dota 2 Professional Gamers League (PGL) and seemingly called out Pirate for allegedly cheating in Animal Well.
Pirate was accused of cheating in the game in January 2025 by multiple content creators. There are puzzles in Animal Well that took the game’s community weeks to solve, and the streamer reportedly solved them without any assistance. His quick Animal Well run raised suspicions, and internet users alleged that he cheated.
On March 16, 2025, SyndereN brought up the Animal Well cheating incident and talked about how Pirate cheated live on stream. While many joked about the situation, Pirate and his community are unhappy with SyndereN. The streamer has called out the Dota 2 caster for being seemingly unprofessional. He also claimed that he beat the game without outside help.
Who Is SyndereN, and What Is the Situation With Pirate Software?
SyndereN is a Danish Dota 2 caster who commentates on major esports events. He was a professional player who competed from 2011 to 2018 before moving to casting events. He is one of the few individuals to attend all of Dota 2’s annual The International events either as a pro player or a caster.

During a recent competition, the caster brought up Pirate Software’s alleged cheating incident and said:
“Easter eggs are cool. Have you played Animal Well? There are some insane secrets in that game you will never discover on your own, except if you’re Pirate Software, in which case you will figure it all out on your own. You’ll go AFK, and you’ll come back and figure out a puzzle that took the community three weeks to do.”

In a now deleted tweet, Pirate addressed Synederen’s comments and said:
“We solved Animal Well together as a community and had a blast doing so. I explained as such both in a pinned comment on the video and in another follow-up video refuting all of the attacks I keep getting for weird sh*t like this. @syndereNDota the f*ck is your problem?”
SyndereN has not responded to Pirate’s comments so far.
Did Pirate Cheat in Animal Well?
YouTube streamer AlbinoLIVE analyzed Pirate Software’s Animal Well footage and accused the Twitch streamer of cheating:
“Outer Wilds was nearly obvious because he was looking at his phone. It was so obvious that I thought, surely he wouldn’t do that, right? But in this game, it’s clearly obvious because he’s trying to have the world believe that he blindly solves every ending, even the secret developer fourth wall-breaking ending that was solved by the community after like weeks?”
Other content creators like Kick streamer Steven “Destiny” Bonnell and Twitch streamer Brandon “Altrioc” Ewing also accused Pirate of cheating in various single player games. Pirate Software responded to the claims saying that he did not cheat.
