Erlang is the Strongest Boss in Black Myth: Wukong – Explained

Erlang, the Sacred Divinity, is Black Myth: Wukong’s strongest boss fight. You will face Erlang during the prologue of the game, which serves as a tutorial of sorts as well. However, you will face Erlang for a second time during the secret sequence that leads to the true ending of Black Myth Wukong.

Erlang, the Sacred Divinity, is extremely aggressive in Black Myth: Wukong. You have to keep adapting your strategy when you face him. Be prepared to die at his hands a couple of times at least.

The boss executes many multi-hit combos that deal decent damage if you fail to perfect dodge every hit. Erlang is not just a melee fighter; he has a lot of ranged options, some of which can track you and deal AoE damage. He has no obvious weak spots unfortunately.

Erlang’s resistance to spells and transformations further challenges your in-game mechs. Besides having a high health pool and a buffed-up defense, the boss can also dodge your 4-focus charged attacks. If that was not all, he has a special shield that reduces his damage taken. You will have to melt this shield to deal more damage with your attacks.

Being extremely mobile, Erlang renders one of the most useful combat spells in the game, A Pluck of Many, useless. While you can bring out your clones, they will not be able to keep up with Erlang’s erratic movement. Ultimately, it will only be a huge loss of your Mana, and you will have made little impact. Meanwhile, Erlang’s simultaneous rapid strikes and heavy-hitting attacks will attempt to bring you down.

Erlang is thus the strongest and one of the most difficult bosses in Black Myth: Wukong. And, if you do manage to beat him, you will have to face the Four Heavenly Kings immediately without any breaks.

Honorable mention

Fight with Great Sage Wukong.

The Great Sage/Broken Shell of Wukong is a close contender for being the strongest boss in the game. This is a multi-phase fight and requires more tenacity. That said, you can make things easier for yourself by using respec to make a defense-focused build. Furthermore, the Broken Shell of Wukong is not much of a ranged fighter. Grounded spells and transformations can be used to deal a fair bit of damage.

While we consider Erlang to be the strongest boss in Black Myth: Wukong, you may find The Great Sage tougher to beat. Ultimately, this boils down to your own preferences and playstyle.
