Who Is Wantep? Twitch Streamer Goes Viral for Allegedly Pulling Off a Crypto Rug Pull

Twitch streamer Wantep whose real name is Hamza, has gone viral after being accused of orchestrating a crypto rug pull.

Hamza, better known online as Wantep, is a Twitch streamer who recently gained attention for allegedly pulling a crypto coin rug pull. On Matthew “Mizkif’s” stream, Wantep promoted a cryptocurrency named after Miz’s cat Chompy. He allegedly raised the coin’s value and then sold off his holdings, reportedly profiting $28,000—a tactic commonly referred to as a “rug pull”.

According to Coinbase, a rug pull is a scenario where a developer abandons the cryptocurrency after raising its value, leaving participants with practically worthless tokens.

Wantep was born on June 25, 2005, and is a 19-year-old as of this writing. He started streaming on Twitch in July 2018, after getting recognition for stream-sniping Shroud alongside Wadu Hek.

The streamer currently has over 69K followers on Twitch. Apart from streaming, Hamza serves as a moderator for streamer Mizkif’s channel, with their association dating back to 2021. He also presented at the Streamer Awards 2023, where he was jokingly introduced as the ‘Bill Clinton Kid”.

What Did Wantep Do?

On Mizkif’s stream, Wantep promoted a cryptocurrency called “Chompy coin”. He stated that the currency’s worth was unbelievably high and wanted Mizkif to have it. He stated that it was not a rug pull, and Miz would hold all the value. During the conversation with Mizkif, Hamza said:

“Its not a complete rug pull, its not scammable, you hold everything. Like, you know what I am saying. So you don’t have to get involved in this, we can do whatever the f**k. You can just tell me to send it all to something, burn it, whatever the f**k.”

Mizkif then asked Hamza to send it to him right now, Miz also stated that he would give Hamza $3,000. Afterward, Mizkif stated that he was confused about the whole situation and did not know what was going on. Wantep then stated that he sold 114 coins, which totaled $28,000.

“One hundred and fourteen times two hundred and fifty, 28 grand. I could just send this to you right now.”

Mizkif then removed Wantep’s moderator status after he was confused about the scenario. Reportedly, Wantep had rug-pulled his viewers in 2022, after making a similar cryptocurrency.
