YouTuber and TikTok influencer Alysha Burney died in her sleep due to an asthma attack a night before her 25th birthday party. She was in Mexico with her brother and friends to celebrate her birthday. News of her death broke on March 11, 2025, with some reports alleging she died because of drug use.
Her brother Charles Burney claimed that internet users were spreading rumors and misinformation about her sister’s death. He alleged there were fake reports about Alysha Burney dying from a drug-related death. Charles told news agency FOX4 that his sister died from an asthma attack and there were no drugs involved.
Alysha was a YouTuber, TikToker, and Instagram influencer with over 5 million followers across the three platforms. She is succeeded by her brother and parents, who posted about her on their social media accounts. Her last project was a comedy video on racism in America.

Alysha Burney was an influencer who started her career on YouTube. She started making comedy sketches in 2013 and grew a sizeable audience. She gained over 1.2 million subscribers over the years. Her latest video was a comedy sketch on slavery, which was posted on February 26, 2025.
She also created short-form content on Instagram and TikTok. Burney had over 588,000 followers on Instagram and over 2.4 million followers on TikTok. Her content focused on topics like dating, relationships, and celebrity controversies.
Before becoming a content creator, she graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Digital Media Production from a Kansas City university. Her brother reported that she was working on another degree and was working with smaller content creators to help them grow.
Charles Burney Clarifies Rumors About Alysha
After rumors about Alysha Burney dying from drug use surfaced online, her brother Charles took to Instagram to address the rumors:
“I come with great sadness that my little sister Alysha Burney has passed. PLEASE allow our family time to grieve during this time. It is extremely difficult seeing all of the false narratives trying to defame her legacy and we are ready to take legal action for those continuing to spread false information regarding her passing.”
He thanked fans for their support and asked people to stop harassing the Burnley family:
“We know so many people care about her and will share more information soon but just give us some time and please stop harassing the family Her legacy will still live on FOREVER!!”
Charles spoke to local news outlet FOX4 Kansas City in an attempt to curb the alleged rumors. He told the news outlet:
“There’s a spread of misinformation online, stating different things based on speculation. These sources lack credibility and should not be believed. My sister did not engage in environments that would lead to such situations. She does not do drugs. She was a self-loving and happy individual who cherished her life and was looking forward to the upcoming year’s plans.”
