The announcement of GTA 5 Enhanced was met with fanfare. Fans were hyped to finally receive another major update to the game while waiting for news about GTA 6. However, instead of widespread acclaim, the update received mixed reviews from fans.

There are multiple reasons why players were upset with the release of GTA 5 Enhanced. Some players report performance issues, while others complain about the removal of the chat feature. Meanwhile, some can’t even play the game to begin with as they can’t migrate their Legacy accounts. In this article, we’ll take a quick look at why players are upset with GTA 5 Enhanced.

Players Complain About the Disappointing State of GTA 5 Enhanced

Here are some notable problems that players are upset about in GTA 5 Enhanced:

Account Migration Issues

The GTA 5 Enhanced upgrade is an entirely new game you need to download. Because of this, you will need to migrate your account to the Enhanced Edition from Legacy. Unfortunately, it is easier said than done. Some players encounter problems and are unable to migrate their accounts.

Community theories suggest that this is connected to hackers who plagued GTA 5 Online since its inception. These hackers would exploit the game to get an exorbitant amount of money and give it away to random players in a lobby. If you are one of the players who received some of this currency, your account will be flagged. It doesn’t matter if you were an unwilling target or not; you won’t be able to migrate your account due to receiving money from illegitimate sources.

Keep in mind that Rockstar Games has yet to confirm this information. The community is still waiting for an answer as to why some players can’t migrate their accounts to GTA 5 Enhanced.

Performance Problems

Another issue that players are complaining about is the performance of the game when playing in public lobbies. Most players share the same sentiment that the game stutters when playing online. Even when playing on minimum graphics, the stuttering makes the game barely playable. Some players in the comments even shared how they still experience stuttering even with a 4090 GPU.

However, the game functions normally in invite-only sessions where you are likely playing alone or with friends. The stuttering frustrated players who enjoy public lobbies where there is chaos.

Chat Feature Removed Without Explanation

Just when players think it could not get worse, GTA 5 Online Enhanced is released with no text chat feature. Players were quick to call out Rockstar for releasing an online game with no way to communicate with other players.

With Rockstar Games being tight-lipped about the situation, fans shared their theories as to why the Enhanced Edition lacks a social feature like text chat. According to a community discussion, the game lacked a moderation system. This means it would be a problem if players were given a chat system without filters. This might be the reason why Rockstar decided to omit the text chat for the time being.

However, the chat system is not completely removed from the game. You can still send SMS-like chats to other players using the in-game phone. However, this process is quite tedious and is not worth the effort.
