Activision recently disintegrated MW2 and MW3 from the Call of Duty HQ. As a result, many in the community have posed the question of whether Black Ops 7 will be a part of the COD HQ when it releases later this year. For those who are unaware of the recent developments, Activision has confirmed that the next Call of Duty game will be Black Ops 7. Since then, Modern Warfare 2 (2022) and Modern Warfare 3 (2023) have also been decoupled from the hub app, i.e., Call of Duty HQ.

Needless to say, these developments have sparked speculations about the next COD game and its integration with the Call of Duty HQ. Fortunately, Activision’s Season 5 roadmap blog post clears up a lot of these debates.

Black Ops 7 Ships With Call of Duty HQ

Simply put, yes, Black Ops 7 will be a part of the Call of Duty HQ. As just mentioned, the Season 5 roadmap blog post confirms all these details. Under the MWII and MWIII Install Update section therein, the developers stated the following:

“The main Call of Duty install continues to serve as your central hub – enabling seamless switching between the latest premium title and Call of Duty: Warzone, promoting data efficiencies across shared content, and keeping all your friends, parties, and cross-title features in one place.”

According to the developers, COD HQ will not cease to exist moving forward. It will continue to be the primary hub for all the upcoming main releases. The latest update only removed MW2 and MW3 from the COD HQ to make things simpler for the player. Moving forward, expect only Black Ops 6 and Warzone to remain a part of the hub app until BO7 releases.

If you already play Black Ops 6 or Warzone, worry not, as this update doesn’t change anything for you. The only users who will be affected by this update are MW2 and MW3 players. That said, this also means that Black Ops 7 won’t be a standalone install. Players must use the COD HQ to derive the required files to install and play the game when it releases.

Despite criticisms from fans, the COD HQ will continue to exist. It will be a mandatory install for all fans who want to play Warzone or the latest COD releases. Sure, it has been deemed bloated and unnecessary by players, but developers seem to be continuing with this format.
