2025 is already shaping up to be a good year for Xbox users with these 5 titles you can look forward to playing.
2025 is here, and Xbox has already given its users some titles to look forward to in 2025. Since the year has just begun, a lot of games have only announced a 2025 release year. The exact dates, however, are missing. We will make sure to mention it while listing the games.
Kindly note that not all games on this list are “Xbox exclusives.” That was our priority while handpicking titles for this list, but we had to stick to games that you will be excited about this year and went beyond the exclusives list as well. Moreover, we couldn’t pick games with chances of further delay.
The list contains the writer’s subjective opinions but is not ranked in any manner. Here are five Xbox games that we think you should eagerly anticipate in 2025:
1. Avowed
If you are a fan of fantasy RPGs, you are in for a treat. Avowed is a first-person game in the genre that is coming to both Xbox and PC. The game will only be available for next-gen consoles, meaning Xbox One players will not have access to it. You have to buy the game’s premium edition from the store for five-day early access. If you are willing to wait, you can get it for free with Game Pass Ultimate on its full release date, February 18, 2025.
2. Fable
Xbox is bringing another fantasy experience for its users. You are not wrong if you think you have heard “Fable” in the gaming industry before. However, this time around, it is officially “a new beginning” for the legendary franchise. This suggests a reboot of sorts. And to be honest, the screenshots look stunning. This game will be released sometime in 2025, but the release date hasn’t yet been confirmed. Whenever it comes out, you will get it on the Xbox Game Pass on day one.
3. Subnautica 2
As a cosmic horror lover, oceans are my favorite scary places to read, listen to, watch, and game about. Subnautica was a fresh take on survival horror, where you had to survive beneath the waves from things you could only see in your nightmares. The only thing that could have made it more fun is a multiplayer mode. Looks like the developers listened to the player base and introduced a co-op mechanism in Subnautica 2! This also suggests that the world will probably be more challenging. It is set for a 2025 release and will come to Game Pass on day one. Since the developers plan on releasing it in Early Access, you might get to play it before its full release.
4. Doom: The Dark Ages
Doom is making a comeback to Xbox in 2025 with its latest installment, Doom: The Dark Ages. It serves as a prequel to the reboot of the series done by Id Software. This means that, canonically, the events of Doom (2016) happened after The Dark Ages. The release is confirmed for 2025, but the date is not yet confirmed. The game won’t be an Xbox exclusive but will be a day-one release on Game Pass.
5. South of Midnight
Modern folklore is an amazing way to go about a fantasy game. The story of the game is promising and appears much more personal than you would expect. The graphics are stunning, and the gameplay looks smooth. South of Midnight kicks off a brand-new fantasy game that might turn into a series if that’s what the developers have in mind. Unlike Avowed, this one will be a third-person action adventure.
