Twitch and Kick streamer xQc took Canada’s side in the ongoing trade war between the United States and Canada.
Canadian livestreamer Felix “xQc” Lengyel voiced his opinions on United States President Donald Trump’s tariffs on Canada. He disagreed with those who think the tariffs are positive for the USA. Instead of agreeing with Trump’s political moves, he showed his support for the Canadian government’s retaliatory tariffs.
On February 1, 2025, Donald Trump placed tariffs on Canada, Mexico, and China as retaliation for immigrants and illegal drugs that enter those countries. The President signed three executive orders that placed tariffs ranging from 10% to 25%.
Canada retaliated to Trump’s move and placed a 25% tariff on billions of dollars worth of goods. xQc chimed in on the trade war and claimed that Canada did nothing wrong to deserve the tariffs. He also said only “very poor and broke” people support and celebrate the tariffs.
Only “Poor and Broke” People Support Tariffs According To xQc
The trade war caught xQc’s attention and he has been following it closely since Trump signed the executive orders. The streamer called out America’s actions and said:
“Brother, dude, you know something that I love? It’s how the people that are very poor and broke and can’t even afford the cost of life are going out there tweeting, ‘We are in charge!’ ‘We deal the cards.’ ‘We are at the top.’ You know, ‘We are at the helm of this operation.’ ‘Now I can go to the grocery store and buy a $26 pack of eggs, b*tch *ss!’ Like, okay, dude. I guess you are right. I mean, you win, but what’s the prize, really? Let’s be honest.”
One of the reasons the Trump administration is implementing tariffs is the government’s war on drugs. A government spokesperson addressed the White House on February 1, 2025, and said that Canada, Mexico, and China were responsible for bringing the fentanyl drug to the USA. xQc disagreed with the statement and asked why only these three countries were being singled out.
The Streamer Made Fun of Americans for Drinking “Swamp Water”
The Canadian government called out the Trump administration on February 2, 2025, and launched counter-tariffs. xQc reacted to Canada’s move against the USA and expressed his support.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau imposed up to 25% in tariffs on goods like beer, housing appliances, sporting goods, and wine. xQc said:
“We (Canadians) got the Great Lakes. We got the dams for power or whatever. What do you all have? When I went to California, it was people just drinking swamp water. Ayy, don’t gaslight me I went to California. They have swamp water in the f*cking pipes. Texas? Swamp in the pipes. Bro, bro, bro I moved to Florida. They have alligator p*ss in the pipes! Are you kidding me?”
The streamer said that people misunderstand how tariffs work. The customers are the ones who bear the brunt of the tariffs as businesses hit with tariffs simply increase their prices and recover the extra amount through customers. Trudeau said that the USA and Canada need to work together to resolve the fentanyl crisis and xQc agreed with him.
