The franchise fans are so excited for the release, as Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is the first AAA title of the franchise. Since the release is on the horizon, let’s take a quick look at some of the things you need to know before playing Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.

1) Based on the Original Story by Todd Howard

Set in 1937, the AAA game takes place between the events of the series’s first and third films, Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981) and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989). Furthermore, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle was written by Bethesda Game Studios’s Hall of Fame game designer Todd Howard. By considering it as a passion project, he also executive-produced the title.

Troy Baker, known for voicing Joel Miller in The Last of Us franchise and Sam Drake in Uncharted 4 and The Lost Legacy, voices Indy in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. In the original movies, Indiana Jones was portrayed by Harrison Ford

2) Exploring Open Areas

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle brings you to several stunning real-life locations. It includes Vatican City, the Pyramids in Egypt, the Sukhothai temples in Thailand, and even the Himalayas. It provides a huge opportunity for the players to expand their adventures by exploring the open areas.

As exploring the open areas, look out for the Adventure Books that are scattered all over the world. These unlock abilities for Indy, i.e. ‘Lucky Hat’ (gives a second chance after getting knockout) and the ‘Bear Hands’ (allows you to take down enemies unarmed). These abilities can be further upgraded with the Adventure Points.

3) First-Person Perspective Gameplay

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is an FPP game, with some exceptions in third-person perspective during environmental interactions and cutscenes. Albeit being a disappointment for several players, Bethesda’s fans would know that is the signature pattern of their games, e.g. Dishonored and Wolfenstein.

Moreover, there are chances that Indiana Jones and the Great Circle look might resemble other popular action-adventure exploration titles such as Tomb Raider and Uncharted, if it was made in TPP.

4) Unique Melee Combat System

Based on the gameplay and showcase reveal trailer, it is evident that the game emphasizes stealth and melee combat. Although Indy can access his revolver during fights, it will not be a complete action shooter game. Instead, the game allows you to improvise and master hand-to-hand combat. Utilize the various objects around the environment to take out the enemies.

Timing block and parry during combats allows you to showcase your fighting, reminiscent of the iconic Indiana Jones. Moreover, use the iconic whip to disarm enemies, traverse, and solve puzzles. Hiding the bodies to avoid alarming the enemies and blending/disguising in social situations enhances stealth mechanics.

Alongside the original canon storyline, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle allows you to explore and unlock additional side contents ranging from infiltrating the enemy camps to solving mysteries and puzzles.

One of the most notable features is that players can access underground illegal fight clubs, which allows them to compete with Nazis and other enemies to test their potential in hand-hand combat.
