Boruto has excelled in creating a new cast of engaging characters who carry on the legacy of their parents. Instead of being simple replicas of the original Naruto cast, these figures have memorable traits, motivations, and feats. Among them, Orochimaru’s son stands out as a character who carries on his father’s name while winning over the hearts of fans. Orochimaru is widely feared for his evil ways, but his son is very different from him. So, who is Orochimaru’s son in Boruto?

Orochimaru’s son in Boruto is Mitsuki, a synthetically created human rather than a biological offspring. He shares a very special connection with Boruto, and his goal is different from the rest of the characters. Let us take a closer look at this.

Who Is Mitsuki in Boruto?

Mitsuki is a talented shinobi created through Orochimaru’s genetics, cloned to become perfect. He was introduced as a member of Team Konohamaru, along with Boruto and Sarada. Despite his enigmatic appearance and menacing parent, Mitsuki is a calm and cheerful person who enjoys spending time with his friends.

He is extremely powerful, using his abilities to protect the village against threats. At the same time, Mitsuki’s dedication towards Boruto far surpasses his loyalty to others. This is because Mitsuki is in constant search of his “Sun” and believes the protagonist to be this figure.

To assist with Mitsuki’s growth and sense of self-identity, Orochimaru pushed his child to view Boruto as a “Sun” who would illuminate his path. With Mitsuki being the “Moon”, both would be equal partners while inspiring growth from each other. Hence, through this symbolism, Mitsuki is a close friend of Boruto and deeply cares about him.

He has no qualms with killing for the sake of protecting others, faithfully completing whatever task is given to him. Despite not fully understanding his own emotions, he explores new facets of his personality with the time he spends with his team. Hence, his development and relationship with Boruto in the series is an important addition to the narrative.

Mitsuki’s Relationship with Orochimaru

Mitsuki’s bond with Orochimaru is a complex relationship, far from a standard father-and-son relationship. As a twisted scientist, Mitsuki is his father’s greatest clone, being self-sufficient and growing at an impressive pace. At least in the initial stages, Orochimaru saw him as nothing but a project that highlighted his own innovative prowess.

However, as time goes by, it is clear that Orochimaru’s care for Mitsuki transcends just being an experiment. Mitsuki’s autonomy is respected by his father, who allows for his stay at Konoha. Orochimaru also frequently monitors Mitsuki’s progress, forbidding the use of dangerous jutsu that could harm his body.

He is also the main reason why Mitsuki sees Boruto as his “Sun”, having had the idea planted in his mind. Mitsuki, for his part, does not seemingly care much about being the son of a former criminal.

He looks up to his father for moments of advice, genuinely curious about the familial ties they share. While the series hasn’t delved deep enough to say that Mitsuki loves his father, the relationship between the two is much more than just between a creator and his creation.

Mitsuki’s Strengths and Abilities

Made to be genetically perfect, Mitsuki is an immensely powerful ninja. He has a large amount of chakra in his body and is blessed with physical strength, speed, and rapid healing. Due to the unique nature of his body, Mitsuki is able to manipulate his limbs to make weapons and heighten his attributes.

As the son of Orochimaru, it is only fitting that the character can also summon venomous snakes, capable of incapacitating targets and detecting and tracking enemies. He has an impressive arsenal of Ninjutsu techniques, ranging from the Wind Release to the Lightning Release. Due to his own intellect and adaptability, he uses them cleverly against enemies.

Mitsuki’s trump card in the series is his Senjutsu, allowing him to use Sage Mode. At the cost of breaking down his own body, his powers greatly enhance while changing his appearance. Despite being able to access this ability with ease, Orochimaru forbade him from using it unnecessarily due to its side effects.

What Is Mitsuki’s Role in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex?

Following the time-skip in Boruto, taking us to Two Blue Vortex, Boruto is considered the enemy of Konoha while Kawaki is believed to be Naruto’s son. Resultantly, Mitsuki is heavily attached to Kawaki, showing bloodlust to Boruto.

While the two have engaged in battle in this part, Boruto reveals to Mitsuki that he is actually his “Sun” and not Kawaki. He explains the truth about how the Hokage is not dead, sending Mitsuki into mental turmoil. After the protagonist is captured by the village, Mitsuki realizes something is amiss and works with Shikamaru to free Boruto.

In the most recent chapter, Mitsuki is alongside Konohamaru, who is trying to deceive the God Trees into lowering their guard. Hence, while working for the sake of the village, his internal struggles regarding his purpose resurface. This has added depth to his character and set the stage for future development.

Conclusion

To conclude, Mitsuki is a fan-favorite character considered by many to be one of the best new additions to Boruto. His complex identity, relationship with the protagonist, and quest for his “Sun” are distinctive elements of the universe that haven’t been explored by anyone else. These make him a unique person who the fandom cannot wait to see more of.
