Drake Is Suing ZIAS!
Videos of American YouTuber ZIAS! claiming to have spoken with a UMG executive after Drake referenced him in his lawsuit against the music company have circulated online. The video followed Drake’s most recent federal defamation lawsuit against Universal Music Group for allegedly advocating a “false and malicious narrative” and using illegal measures to boost the success of Kendrick Lamar’s diss, Not Like Us.
In a video uploaded on January 16, 2025, ZIAS! stated that he spoke with a UMG executive who told him that it appeared to be Drake’s attempt to get out of his arrangement with the music label while still receiving full payment without completing the terms of his original contract.
The contract in question is Drake’s 2022 deal with UMG, which includes publishing, visual media initiatives, recordings, and merchandising. Multiple publications, including Variety, indicated that the deal was purportedly worth $400 million. In the lawsuit against UMG, Drake mentioned:
“UMG’s campaign went well beyond the traditional music company playbook — indeed, UMG has unleashed every weapon in its arsenal, including, on information and belief, certain practices that are unlawful.”
