Twitch streamer Asmongold said that he wants to dress up as Pokemon protagonist Ash Ketchum to watch deportations in the US.
Popular Twitch streamer Zack “Asmongold” Hoyt talked about deportations in the United States on January 28, 2025. He pointed out how celebrities were used to bring out undocumented migrants during raids.
Asmongold suggested that he wants to watch deportations with Tom Homan. The United States is deporting undocumented migrants, which has led to a lot of political debate. Homan is a member of the Trump administration who is overseeing the ongoing deportations. Asmon suggested that he would dress up as Ash Ketchum from the Pokémon series to join Homan.
The streamer’s comments led to online debates, and many internet users disagreed with him. Fellow One True King content creator Emily “Emiru” Schunk had to ban all conversations around Asmongold because viewers kept asking her about his comments. An Emiru chat moderator said that Asmon’s comment was just a “joke.”
What Did Asmongold Say About Deportations?
Asmongold is a vocal supporter of the Trump administration. He has quickly become the biggest political commentator on Twitch after he started covering politics. The streamer said during his January 28, 2025, live stream:
“They are doing these things with these deportations where they bring like celebrities to deport people. And it made me wonder, what is the probability that Tom Homan would let me go with him dressed up as Ash Ketchum, watching them do deportations. Like, I feel it’s probably at least 5% chance, right? I think we are at 5-10% chance that this could happen. Yeah exactly, that would be really good content, it would be.”
The streamer said that it is unlikely he can collaborate with government officials. However, his chat urged him to try. He agreed and said it would be “f*cking hilarious.”
The Streamer Wants ICE To Conduct Raids at Schools
United States media accused the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) department of conducting raids at schools and churches. Reports suggest that ICE is targeting schools to bait out parents who might be undocumented migrants in the U.S. Asmongold said that it was just a fear tactic by people defending undocumented migrants. He said:
“Arrest kids at school, yeah, like what is this? But you can see that it is another element of emotional manipulation. And there is no actual thinking about this at all, it’s just trying to invoke a sense fear and hopefully get people to act on that fear.”
He explained that if undocumented migrants were in schools, they were committing crimes and should be arrested. The streamer said:
“When you think about it, is it really a good idea that there are a bunch of people that are in some cases unvetted, random people, inside of a school where children are that aren’t even citizens and are committing a crime by being there in the first place?”
Asmon’s comments divided internet users. Many said that he was justified with his take, while others called him “evil.” The streamer responded to discourse on X saying, “I am not f*cking sorry.”
