This monster is in every Monster Hunter game and is a literal dragon that spits fire. Rathalos is usually found in Scarlet Forest, Oilwell Basin, and Ruins of Wyveria after Chapter 3. According to the game, it is a male wyvern that is also known as the King of the Skies, and as a male, he watches over his territory. This beast uses his aerial movement and elemental damage to kill anyone who tries to invade his territory.

How To Unlock Rathalos in Monster Hunter Wilds

The process of unlocking this monster is quite simple; players have to start the King of the Skies optional quest. The description of the quest is as follows: “An investigator surveying the Forbidden Lands has reported a particularly formidable large monster.” To unlock this quest, players have to be HR 9 or higher, and the main objective is to hunt down the Rathalos before time expires.

As he is a flying wyvern, most of the time Rathalos is going to attack while flying. Use flash pods to stun this monster and bring him to the ground. Try to break its wings as soon as possible to render his flying abilities.

Rathalos is weak against the thunder element, so make sure to hit him and his head with this element’s attack to weaken him more. Rathalos has attacks like Weak Roar and Minor Wind Pressure that can immobilize you. Use Earplugs and Windproof skill to counter these annoying attacks. Moreover, this monster uses poison and fire attacks, so having enough fire and poison resistance is going to help greatly in this hunt.
