Mighty Impel and Boot of the Giants are unique abilities available to the Path of Giants Barbarian subclass in Baldur’s Gate 3.

Path of Giants is a new Barbarian subclass added with Patch 8 of Baldur’s Gate 3. Warriors choosing the subclass can channel Giant’s Rage to grow in size and access unique features and abilities. In battle, Giant Barbarians have an affinity for using anything they can get their hands on as thrown weapons, including enemies.
If foes are too heavy to pick up, there is still a chance that the Barbarian can send them tumbling with a brutal kick. This ability to bully enemies around the battlefield is best highlighted by two exclusive subclass features: Boot of the Giants and Mighty Impel.
How Does Boot of the Giants Work in Baldur’s Gate 3

Boot of the Giants is a Path of Giants subclass ability that essentially works as a damaging shove but against twice the weight. It is unlocked at level 5 and can be used as a bonus action to deal 1 Bludgeoning damage + Strength modifier. The Giant Barbarian must succeed in a contested Athletics check to knock the target back 1.5m (5ft). The Barbarian can use the ability on a creature whose weight is less than Strength Score × Multiplier (24). For shove, the multiplier is 12.
Boot of the Giants works with the Tavern Brawler Feat to double the Strength modifier added to its damage. For example, if your Barbarian has a Strength modifier of five, the Boot of the Giants attack roll will be: 1 + 5 (Strength modifier) + 5 (Tavern Brawler) = 11 damage. Considering that Boot of the Giants is a bonus action, the move can be used as a potent shove that does decent damage.
How Does Mighty Impel Work in Baldur’s Gate 3

Unlocked at level 10, Mighty Impel allows the Path of Giants Barbarian to throw a Medium-sized or smaller enemy when using Giant’s Rage. Here are some key points and features about Mighty Impel to keep in mind:
- Cost: Uses a bonus action.
- Requirement: No strength requirement to pick up Medium-sized or smaller enemies.
- Range: 9m (30ft), unaffected by Strength modifier.
- Damage: The amount of damage dealt to the target is proportional to the weight of the enemy thrown.
- Giant’s Rage damage bonus doubles on throw attacks.
- Tavern Brawler doubles the Strength modifier for thrown weapon damage.
- Thrown enemy falls Prone on impact.
Combined with Giant’s Rage and Tavern Brawler, Mighty Impel and Boot of the Giants are powerful and fun-to-use abilities. They can use the environment to cause fall damage and manipulate the battlefield with brute force.
