Finding Shield Early in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered
A shield is an important aspect of the combat system to protect you. Although you can equip a weapon and hold right click to use it as your shield, it won’t be effective enough, and you will be receiving chip damage with every hit. Chip damage can be a huge disadvantage in battle if you’re not loaded with healing items.
You can find a shield as early as the prologue in the ruins where you have to follow the royal guards of Uriel Septum. In the ruins, you will randomly encounter assassins whom the guards will kill. However, you’ll gradually enter the deeper ruins where you’ll be alone and will be targeted by goblins and raiders. Instead of running away, you can kill them with your fists and pick up their weapons.
In the last bits of the prologue in the sewers, you will come across shielded raiders. They’re built like a rock, and taking them down requires some effort. After a deadly battle with shielded goblins or raiders, you can eventually pick up their shield and equip it from your inventory.
How To Use It?
After equipping a Shield from your inventory, it will be designated to your right arm. Lastly, to use it, hold the right click, allowing your character to put up the shield to protect themselves.
