You will need to heal a considerable number of times while playing DOOM The Dark Ages, and this article explains the mechanic in detail.

Although the Slayer is an expert in hunting demons, there are times when he also has to take a breather. In many cases, you will have to battle massive hordes of enemies and eventually take down bosses while playing DOOM The Dark Ages. Unless you are playing on the special difficulty modes, you will have to rely on heals to survive these fights.
The Slayer can heal via multiple methods, and most of these are available in the open. In this article, we will explain how you can heal in DOOM The Dark Ages.
Ways to Heal in DOOM The Dark Ages
There are four ways to primarily heal in DOOM The Dark Ages:
- Health packs scattered in the open world.
- Blue Potions scattered in the open world.
- Killing boss demons.
- Killing normal demons.
Learn more about them below.
Health Packs Scattered in the Open World

The most effective way to heal in DOOM The Dark Ages is to find the Health Packs scattered in the open world. These objects have the appearance of First-Aid kits. They have a blue outline with a very slight glow.
There are two kinds of health packs – a big one and a small one. The smaller one heals for 20 health, while the bigger ones heal for 40. You do not need to interact with these items to heal. Simply walk over the health pack to heal yourself in DOOM The Dark Ages.
Blue Potions Scattered in the Open World

Commonly found in off-tracks, these are blue liquids contained in round-bottom flasks. Normally, these health potions are found in groups, and using all of them mostly restores your health to the maximum.
Similar to the health packs, simply walk over to these items and you will be automatically healed in DOOM The Dark Ages.
Killing Boss Demons

Defeating boss demons will always heal you for a significant amount of health. Once you land the final blow, blue bubbles from the demon will flow to you, and these will fill up a significant chunk of your health bar.
Some boss demons also ride another four-legged hellspwan. These are separate entities, and you will need to defeat both of these separately. As such, you will gain health from these twice – once after defeating the rider and once after defeating the mount.
Killing Demons
In dire scenarios when you cannot find any health packs or potions, killing any monster will provide you with a small amount of healing. This is not a guaranteed way to heal in DOOM The Dark Ages and not recommended either.
That said, it can save your skin in many scenarios where even the slightest bit of damage can kill you.
