During the first stages of Dune Awakening, you will mostly have to rely on your knife, at least till you steal and ornithopter and escape. After you narrowly escape being swallowed by the Worm, Zantara will start the quest called Getting Equipped. This is a basic quest where you will be gearing yourself up for the full Arrakis experience.
During the second stage of the Getting Equipped quest, Zantara will tell you to find 65 Salvaged Metal. With this, you will need to research and craft the Maula Gun. However, the instructions are a bit vague since he mentions no locations. Fortunately, getting a hold of Salvaged Metal is very easy, and it is very near to you, in fact. Where Can You Find Salvaged Metal in Dune Awakening During The Getting Equipped Quest?
From your location after the Worm attack, head towards the northeast direction to find Salvaged Metal in Dune Awakening during the Getting Equipped quest. You will be able to spot a tent here from the distance, and this is actually a Scavenger Camp. There will be some enemy NPCs here that you need to kill, so ensure you have some healing items with you.
Once you defeat the enemy NPCs, simply loot the surrounding area. You will be able to find a decent amount of Salvaged Metal here. This area will also have some additional metal structures on which you can use the Cutteray to get some more of this item.
In case you do not want to fight any NPCs, just run along the base of the rocky structure where the Scavenger Camps are located. You will find a lot of debris here, and looting these will also procure the necessary amount. Once you have the required number of Salvaged Metal, you will have to craft the Maula Gun and its ammunition to proceed with the quest.
