This tool allows players to experience all the possibilities of shaping their character, and test their hardware to see if it is compatible with the game prior to the release. Dune: Awakening Character Creation Explained

The character creation in Dune: Awakening plays a crucial role in setting up the beginnings of the new exciting adventure. As it is an open-world survival game where players will make their own decisions, character creation will allow them to select an appearance, and select the background, caste, and mentor. Selecting the background, caste, and mentor will unlock unique dialogue options and a starting ability for the players corresponding to the choices.
Moreover, the customization options available for character creation are quite generous. Players can choose from 16 different presets with Male and Female sex choices, and then can further customize using numerous options. Most of the customization options have sliders, so use the slider to view the available appearance options and select the ones you prefer.

Dune: Awakening Character Creation Presets/Body Type

The character creation in the Character Creator & Benchmark Mode includes more options than the original showcase of character creation shown by the Devs 8 months ago. As you get to the screen of character creation, you will immediately see that there are more presets available and no Body Type option. Well, there are only two body type options available in Dune: Awakening, Male and Female. You can select between them from the Presets available. There are 16 Presets that are heavily inspired by the people from different planets in the world of Dune.
You can choose the preset of the species that you like and move to the main character creation options for further customization. Alternatively, you can select a preset and select the “Finish Character” option to confirm the customization.
Dune: Awakening Character Creation Appearance Options
After selecting the preset, you will be able to further customize it with the numerous appearance customization options. There are five main appearance options available, Body, Head, Hair, Tattoos and Scars, and Makeup. Each main appearance option provides further customization options for that particular section. For instance, the Body tab will include options through which you can customize the Skin Tone, Height, Voice, Vitiligo, and more.

All Body Options

The Body is the first main appearance option in the Character Creation. You will be able to adjust the height, select a skin tone, and give a raw look to the physique of your character. Use the sliders available to select the preferred look for your character.

All Head Options

There are 9 different Fact Types to choose from and several detailing options for various parts of the head. Moreover, you can also set Blemishes, Redness, and Dark Circles for the skin in this section.

The next tab is the Tattoos and Scars from which you can add tattoos and scars on your character’s face and body. This tab only has a few options through which players can further enhance the appearance of their character. There might not be a whole lot of designs for tattoos and scars, but it might be enough for you to make your character unique.

- Face Tattoo Style: Choose from 17 different face tattoo styles.

- Tattoo Age: Add a fade to the face and head tattoos.

All Makeup Options

Lastly, we have the Makeup tab which will allow you to add Eye Makeup Style, Lipstick, Eyeliner, Lipgloss, and adjust their intensity. You can further enhance the appearance of your character through these options and give them a unique look in the world of Arrakis.

Confirming Character Customization
Once you have explored and customized your character, select the “Finish Character” option on the Body Tab to confirm the character. It will ask for a confirmation. Select yes if you want to proceed ahead, or no if you still want to customize.
Dune: Awakening Character Creation Backgrounds and Starting Abilities
After creating your character, Reverend Mother will ask you a few questions. During these questions, you will have to select your Home Planet, Caste, and Mentor. Choosing the Home Planet and the Caste will set your background, unlocking unique dialogue options in your playthrough. Your character will be able to pursue these unique dialogue options with Dialogue Traits. Moreover, you will also unlock a certain Unique Emote corresponding to the Home Planet.
Choosing a Mentor will assign your character a starting ability. Moreover, it will specify a certain class and playstyle for your character. However, it will not lock your character to that corresponding playstyle or class. You can freely advance to other playstyles or classes and choose a playstyle that you prefer. Although you will have to stick to the class for a brief amount of time in the early progression.

There is no certain best option straight away, as each background offers a unique dialogue trait and emote. You will get access to unique dialogue options in your playthrough, giving you certain advantages in certain scenarios.
