You’ll spend a lot of time in Dune Awakening simply exploring and traversing the map. At first, finding the different points of interest on the map can seem difficult. However, once you launch a Survey Probe, all of these points will appear on your map, making exploration easier. While this is true for the Hagga Basin area, the same cannot be said for the Deep Desert. It is the PvP section of the map in Dune Awakening, and it’s randomly generated.

So, charting that portion of the map and understanding where the points of interest are isn’t really possible with the Survey Probe. That’s where the Sinkcharts come in. In this guide, we’ll explain how you can get Sinkcharts in Dune Awakening and how they function.

Sinkcharts let you copy the geographical data you have uncovered when surveying a portion of Arrakis. This can be done for both the Deep Desert and the Hagga Basin. However, to unlock the Sinkcharts, you’ll need to first unlock and invest some skill points in the Planetologist class. If it wasn’t your starting class, you should find Derek Chinara. He’s a Planetologist trainer who’ll unlock the class’s skill tree after you complete an initial quest for him.

After completing his quest, the Planetologist skill tree will open up. To get access to Sinkcharts, spend a point on the Cartographer ability here. However, simply unlocking this ability won’t help; you’ll also need to get a blank Sinkchart first. Visit any of the vendors in the game and spend around 1,500 Solari to grab a blank Sinkchart.

Now, you can finally proceed to transpose the survey data from a specific section of the map onto the blank Sinkchart.

How To Use Sinkcharts in Dune Awakening

To use a blank Sinkchart, follow the steps mentioned below.

  • Step 1: Open your map.
  • Step 2: Select the surveyed area whose Sinkchart you want to create.
  • Step 3: Next, click on the ‘Make Chart’ option.
  • Step 4: Open your inventory, and you’ll find the Sinkchart of the surveyed area you chose.

You can share a Sinkchart with friends to let them know where the points of interest are in that area, even if they haven’t surveyed the region. You can also trade the Sinkcharts with other players in exchange for Solari or other items.

However, the best use of a Sinkchart is to map the Deep Desert. Since these areas are procedurally generated every week, you should try to create the Sinkchart at the beginning of the week. This will give you plenty of time to explore the points of interest throughout the rest of the week before the map changes again.
