In Death Stranding 2, players can fast travel between different locations in Australia. There are two ways to do this, and both have their pros and cons. The fast travel mechanic isn’t available straight out of the box, meaning you will have to progress your playthrough to a certain point to unlock it.

By fast travel, we are referring to instantaneous travel in Death Stranding 2. Quicker travel can also be done when you repair roads or restore monorails.

Death Stranding 2 Fast Travel, Explained

There are three methods to fast travel in Death Stranding 2: DHV Magellan (unlocks after connecting West Fort Knot to the chiral network), Transponder (unlocks after Episode 7 starts), and Hot Springs (after putting the bucket on in the hot spring near the Motherhood). They unlock at different points in the story and have different in-game methodologies of fast traveling that end up impacting how that particular travel works.

To fast travel with DHV Magellan, open the map in Death Stranding 2, hold X to chart a course, and select any of the unlocked locations on the map that the ship can travel to. You can notice a blue silhouette of the DHV Magellan beside the locations that have been connected to the chiral network. Keep in mind to be on the DHV Magellan before you chart a course and execute the fast travel. If you aren’t, the ship will leave without you.

DHV Magellan will not be able to travel when the tar currents are unstable, which actually happens quite a few times during the game’s storyline. It can also not travel to locations not connected to the chiral network. DHV Magellan also has fixed points to which it can fast travel, limiting your options.

It will carry the cargo that you have on you or in your vehicle. Deliveries made with the help of DHV Magellan will not get Sam any rating; instead, it will simply show DHV Magellan on the delivery screen. Keep in mind, DHV Magellan cannot transport live animals if you are rescuing any.

Death Stranding 2: How To Fast Travel With Transponder

You can fast travel between two Transponders in Death Stranding 2. The structure can be built with the help of PCC Level 2 at any location within the chiral network. Fast travel through Transponders makes use of the Beach Jump mechanic. Safe houses and large facilities like distribution centers are automatically outfitted with Transponders once the structure becomes unlocked.

The shortcoming of this method of fast traveling is that only Sam teleports to the location with equipped items and those in the utility pouch. Any cargo on the backpack will be left at the point where you teleported. You also cannot use Transponder to teleport your vehicle.

Death Stranding 2: How To Fast Travel With Hot Spring

You can fast travel between two hot springs in Death Stranding 2 once you interact with the bucket in hot spring outside the Motherhood. The Hot Spring fast travel also utilizes the Beach Jump mechanic.

You will not be able to carry any cargo on your back as the hot spring utilizes the beach to make the jump. Instead, the cargo can be found at the terminal of the hot spring you fast travelled from.
