As you make progress with your deliveries, there will come a time when you will be carrying a lot of items on your back. This can result in your walking becoming more unstable and harder to control.

This can be very dangerous, as a single tumble can send your cargo flying into oblivion. This forces you to stop, gather, and reorganize your cargo. It’s time-consuming and annoying, especially if it happens multiple times. It gets even worse if you are trying to cross a river and you run out of stamina and lose your balance. Your cargo could be swept up by the stream.

This is why learning to secure your cargo in Death Stranding 2 is essential. With the help of the Strand tool, you can strap your cargo more tightly so you can focus on moving instead of worrying about when your boxes are going to fall off.

How To Use the Strand Tool

To do this, hold the Triangle button on your controller to place your backpack on the ground. Afterward, hit the D-pad to bring up the radial menu to show your different tools and weapons. Browse through the wheel and look for the Strand tool. Equip it and aim at the backpack to trigger the option to tie it down. Alternatively, you can also place a tied-down cargo on a vehicle if you have one.

However, keep in mind that the Strand will eventually wear out the more you make mistakes. This means you still need to be careful not to slip up too many times. If you’re not careful, the tied-up cargo can still fall off and get damaged. When crossing challenging areas like rivers, consider building structures like a bridge. This should help you avoid doing risky actions like walking through strong currents.
