This device was first introduced in Death Stranding (2019), and Hideo Kojima decided to keep it that way for the sequel. You can scan your environment with the help of Odradek by pressing R1. The usage is very simple. You press R1, and the device sends a holographic message that notifies you about interesting things near you.

You can use this device to locate cargo, BTs, chiral crystals, and other important items. Moreover, you can scan the terrain to check if it’s safe for you to cross. Just press R1 to check if the water bodies are crossable. A blue-circled river can be crossed, a yellow one is a little dangerous, and a red one can kill you. The same system works for other terrains, so we recommend you use Odradek each time you reach a questionable spot.
