The world of Death Stranding 2 is unforgiving, and players realize that soon enough. Even though you have a gun and some other items, the bosses can be hard to fight. Hideo Kojima understands this completely; therefore, he implemented a mechanic called “Pretend You Won.”

You are going to die a lot while fighting bosses, and the “Pretend You Won” feature can help you in that situation. Just like every other game, the Game Over screen comes, and it gives the player a chance to imagine the battle has already been fought, and the boss is skipped.

It might be confusing for a lot of players, and we completely understand that. In order to help those in need, we will explain how the “Pretend You Won” option works in Death Stranding 2 in this article.

How To Skip Boss Fights in Death Stranding 2 (Pretend You Won)

Basically, when you die while fighting a boss in Death Stranding 2, you will see a pop-up on your screen. It reads, “Imagine that the battle has been fought, and move on with the story.” To simplify, you can skip the whole battle if things are going wrong. It does not affect the story in any way, but you might miss out on some rewards.

Once you accept the pop-up, you will be able to see a slideshow that explains how the boss fight went. After that, the usual story cutscene will be played, and congratulations, the fight is over. However, once you get to the results screen, you will lose some points.

You will be granted some combat points, as you fought the boss before death. Skipping a boss does not result in any kind of penalty, and you will be able to grab the Platinum Trophy. The only downside of selecting this option is that you won’t be able to get additional likes for that specific mission.
