After your spine-chilling rescue mission back in Death Stranding 2 Episode 8, Episode 9 assignments will give you a little bit of everything. You’ll be doing some normal deliveries, fighting a Ghost Mech, recovering some cargo, and then you’ll end the episode by defending an observatory from hostiles. It’s a roller coaster of an episode, and here’s a complete guide to help you.

Death Stranding 2 Episode 9: How To Complete

Deliver the Chiral Decontaminators and Sedatives (Main Order 38)

For your first assignment, Order 38 is about delivering Chiral Decontaminators and Sedatives to the Eastern Environmental Observatory. You will still be driving on snow, but you may need to consider the Pickup Off-roader to keep your cargo safe.

As usual, once you reach your destination, you drop the cargo for Ridge Frost and have him link to the Chiral Network. Once done, you can head back to your base and watch some cutscenes before Sam ends his day. It’s a pretty simple assignment compared to the next one.

Following the cutscene, you and the rest of the crew in DHV Magellan find themselves at the mercy of a giant mech. Higgs then appears inside the ship and holds Fragile hostage with his fancy Battle Guitar, a weapon that you can also unlock in due time. Higgs and Tomorrow then get into a fight where Higgs loses and escapes with his coffin.

This is where Order 39 starts. Your goal is to defeat the Giant Ghost Mech outside the DHV Magellan. To deal the most damage, shoot the orange neon circles around its body. Those are its weak spots, allowing you to cripple the ghost mech once these lights turn off.

Once it goes half HP, it will start shooting lasers from its tentacles. Be careful not to get hit. The giant ghost mech will frequently bum rush you with its tentacles. This can deal a lot of damage, so dodge when necessary.

Once the giant ghost mech is destroyed, you and the crew get sent back to the snowy landscape. Once that’s done, you can head back to the ship, and Sam gets to end the day in his comfy bed.

After the intense encounter with the giant ghost mech, the crew is stuck with another problem. The DHV Magellan received too much damage from the fight and needs to be repaired. This also means the ship won’t be able to help you get to your destination.

Your next assignment, Order 40, is to recover all stranded cargo in the vast snowy landscape. You’ll be doing a lot of walking and driving. It’s also hard to see far with the snow blizzard. Consider unlocking some useful passives in the APAS Enhancements so you can scan the environment faster and see the terrain.

Once you get all the stranded cargo, head to the next destination, which is The Phantom Smith. Upon arrival, deliver the cargo and have them link to the Chiral Network. Afterward, the Phantom Smith will need your service in delivering a dangerous cargo, which leads to the next order.

The Order 41 of Death Stranding 2 Episode 9 tasks you with delivering the Chiral Field Controller Prototypes to the F6 South Fort Knot. Considering it’s a hazardous chemical you need to deliver, you can’t risk damaging the cargo for this assignment. It’s a long trip, so you might as well turn on the in-game music player and play some songs you unlocked.

Once you reach the F6 Delivery Entrance, drop the cargo and have Pierre Southern check it out and connect to the Chiral Network. Once that’s done, Sam ends his day with a good night’s rest.

Deliver Chiral Cyclotron Parts and All Special Materials to the DHV Magellan (Main Order 42)

Now that the Chiral Field Controller Prototypes have been set up in F6 South Fort Knot, new technological advancements have been discovered. Your next assignment, Order 42, is to deliver the new Chiral Cyclotron Parts and all the special materials to the DHV Magellan.

The journey back to your base of operations can be treacherous. You will encounter hostile forces while heading back. Make sure you are prepared. Once you get past the dangers and finally make it back, the DHV is one step closer to being fixed. Afterwards, Sam ends his day. As for you, you get treated with a goofy cutscene of Dollman singing.

As for the final mission of Death Stranding 2 Episode 9, Order 43 tasks you with taking down Chiral Jammers set up by the Armed Survivalists. While you’re at it, you also need to eliminate all the threats in the Southern Environmental Observatory. Before you go, make sure to check your loadout.

Drive your way to the marked location and take down the hostile forces while destroying all the Chiral Jammers. This area can be hard to navigate knee-deep in snow. As usual, don’t forget to loot the area for anything useful.

Once you are done, head to the next marked location. You’ll discover that the area is overrun by hostile mechs. Your next goal is to hold your ground and defend the area by eliminating all the enemies. This might be a good time to go guns blazing with a heavy machine gun.

Once the job’s done, head inside the observatory and talk to Gregory Southall and have him link to the Chiral Network. Afterwards, a cutscene will play where Higgs shows up and torches Sam again and again with his Battle Guitar. Fortunately, the rest of the crew shows up to help him.

Higgs will eventually retreat with Fragile, Rainy, and Tomorrow helping Sam recover from the death loop. Afterward, they head back to the ship, where you get to see more cutscenes before the episode ends.
