As revealed in Episode 12, after that catchy dance number, Charlie reveals that he is actually Die-Hardman from the original game. He reveals that he has higher-level access than APAS, allowing him to have complete access to the Drawbridge data.

On top of that, he later reveals that the DHV Magella, known for the acronym “Deep-tar Hunting Vessel,” has another meaning, the “Die-hardman’s Vessel.” With how massive it is, the ship was turned into a mobile base of operations.

As Die-hardman continues to walk around waking everyone up, he reveals that everyone was being manipulated by The President, who is also hiding inside the ship. However, Tarman actually knew of this and is trying to play along to avoid suspicion until the time is right. The goal was to wait until all the continents had been connected before making a move.

As everyone is gathered, Higgs shows up as the Red Samurai. He shares his own goals about how he wants to kick off the “Last Stranding” as revenge for Amelie, who sealed the Beach before. However, to do that, he needs Tomorrow as the catalyst.

Why is Tomorrow the catalyst, you ask? Higgs reveals that she is actually Sam’s daughter. This means she can make it work just like how Sam could before the ending of the original Death Stranding game. The scene turns to black after Higgs captures Tomorrow and drops into a pool of tar. Before disappearing for good, he tells the crew that he will be waiting for them at the Beach. With that said, the crew sets off to find Tomorrow and rescue her, and the episode ends.
